Vacation rentals with a fireplace in Litchfield County

This charming, rural home has a touch of mid-century fun throughout. But the best part is the gorgeous lawn and waking up to the sound of the rushing brook right outside the window. Rebecca was so friendly and responsive and included lots of little touches that were very thoughtful.

this place is magical. my sisters and I have stayed here twice now, for her wedding and now for mine. both times the home has been clean and the overall experience has been wonderful.

My family and I had a wonderful weekend at the house. The house is beautiful and was extremely clean when we arrived. Luiz kindly left a sled for my kids to use in the yard. There is plenty of outdoor space and the yard has a good deal of privacy. There are two bedrooms and a den/office with a TV. The kitchen has everything we needed. Luiz was very easy to communicate with.

Our stay at Ellen’s Lake House was perfect. It was comfortable, clean and the view of the lake is amazing. My husband enjoyed fishing and we both loved being on the water. Ellen was helpful and made our stay a wonderful experience.

My wife, our two kids, and our friends who also have kids had a spectacular time staying at Lindsey's over Memorial Day Weekend. We booked last minute but were very pleasantly surprised at how much fun we ended up having in the area as well as Lindsey's place in particular. It's a beautiful house, immaculately kept, easy check in and check out, with absolutely everything we could possibly have needed. There were all kinds of really fun activities for the kids and us both at the house and in the surrounding neighborhoods which made our stay memorable. We'd highly recommend this spot for anyone, especially with kids, looking for a weekend or longer getaway. Thanks so much, Lindsey!

Perfect weekend getaway in a beautiful location. The house was super comfortable for our group of 7. Great views of the lake, plenty to do nearby but we also enjoyed just spending time together and cooking dinner at the house. Hosts were super responsive and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend!

First, 5 stars for Armand for his friendly responses and communication! Before we decided to book, we had several questions for him regarding the house to see if it would be a good fit for our mom who uses a walker (it is!) Armand answered quickly with the information we needed and never made us feel like we were bothering him. The house is clean and beautiful...the main living room/dining room/kitchen level is just one step down from the entry and also contains the master bedroom with en-suite bath - perfect set up for our mom. The other three bedrooms share a spacious bath with a double sink. Beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of room for us to cook, eat and relax. The house is in a quiet neighborhood, yet just a 10-15 min ride to Torrington and Litchfield with tons of shopping and restaurant choices. We had a great time, and will definitely consider staying here again for a future gathering.

Our stay at Katie’s West Hartford home was truly great! The location is perfect, our host was incredibly responsive and helpful, and there were many needed amenities available such as laundry, coffee machine, kettle, etc. As some have shared on previous reviews, you can hear the upstairs neighbors, but the hosts provided a sound machine to help with that. We even saw a bunny one morning which my toddler loved! Thanks for the stay!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Barbara’s beautiful home! From the moment we arrived, everything was spotless, well-maintained, and exactly as described. The house is full of charm and character, with thoughtful touches throughout that made it feel like a true home away from home. The location was perfect—peaceful and quiet, yet close enough to everything we wanted to explore. We especially loved the cozy fireplace, comfortable beds, and well-equipped kitchen. Barbara & Patty were incredibly responsive and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. This was our 3rd time staying here and we highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing, beautiful getaway. We’d definitely love to return in the future!

The location and comfort can’t be beat. We stayed at the professor’s flat for a full semester while I was teaching at Yale and it was perfect for a couple and a cat. We even had a couple of friends visit and stay over comfortably during that time. We truly lived in the place like it was our home, because it felt like it: it was cozy, and despite a smaller kitchen than we’re used to, it was well equipped, and we were able to cook a lot and even host dinner parties. It’s very conveniently located to everything in New Haven/the East Rock neighborhood & we walked everywhere. Also very convenient to the freeway. A parking spot was included in our rent as well. Remy, Hilary and Sal were always responsive and ready to take care of anything that needed attention. Remy also gave us and all the tenants extras like baked goods, and samples of her great Italian cooking on occasion (around the holidays). They also gave us fire logs for the fireplace we used our entire last month in town.

Melissa and Geoff's place is in beautiful surroundings and well within a short drive to excellent restaurants, museums and outdoor activities. We were there during an especially rainy and cool period, but the apartment kept us toasty and warm after a day of dodging the raindrops. The king size bed was lovely and a white machine lulled us to sleep. The deck attached to the house was wonderful and when the weather looked as if the blue skies were here to stay, Melissa asked if we wanted dry cushions for the chairs- just a lovely thought. The gardens were just beginning to bloom and the property is spotless. We will definitely return to Sweet Dreams; the apartment was a pleasure to be in. Andrea and Ray

Janet's place was perfect for my visit. plenty of space in the apartment to spread out. it had everything I needed and didn't feel cluttered. and it was squeaky clean.

Our stay in West Hartford was great! We were looking for a place to stay where we could cook, and this apartment included a full kitchen with pots, plates, utensils, and a full fridge. Parking was easy, the neighborhood is easy to walk around, and the apartment was relaxing. We had a very nice stay overall!

My wife, dog, and I had a wonderful and peaceful stay at Michael's place. The land is beautiful, the place itself is actually even nicer than the pictures, and there is plenty to do in the area. We will definitely be coming back!

Nice place located in a beautiful secluded house in a safe neighborhood. Gorgeous property. Our dogs were allowed and they were very comfortable. The amenities were exactly as described. Extremely clean and well maintained. The place was easy to locate and easy to access. It is convenient to many local stores and restaurants. Great, responsive hosts!

Our family had a very enjoyable stay! The home and surroundings were beautiful, everything was extremely clean and organized, our host was wonderful! We absolutely loved the tea ceremony! It was very educational! We will definitely stay here again when we return to New Haven!

Our second time at Hopewell Junction did not disappoint. We love this home because Anuja really understands what a guest needs and would like - so many extra touches, like beautiful linens, nice soaps and shampoos, wood for fire, lots of cookware and serving pieces, and beautiful art. Beds are comfy and towels are top notch. It snowed while we were there, beautiful, and the drive was promptly plowed. Our friends speak Danish, and they kept using the word hygge for the house. (Cosy and welcoming) We agree and will definitely be back. Thank you Anuja for another lovely stay!

Dove Haven is truly a special spot that shows that someone (Patty) cares about it a lot. The house is very well stocked and we never lacked for anything. And the collection of available umbrellas was greatly appreciated (yes, a bit of rain). Spacious hot tub (accommodates 8, nicely) is well-located on adjacent deck with beautiful view of spectacular garden. Rare to find a place where each of the five bedrooms, (with en suite or nearby bathroom), would be a master bedroom in a typical Airbnb. The master bedroom lives up to the billing with a monstrous bathroom including an inviting tub and a private porch. Public tennis courts and public pickleball courts nearby (less than a mile down West Rock Ave) were a treat. As was brunch at Bella’s Cafe (highlighted in Patty’s online notebook). Just plain terrific from beginning to end.

My daughters and I really enjoyed our stay at Jacks place. The house is beautiful, and the surrounding private property is stunning. Nicole was very helpful whenever I had any questions.
