The Carpenter's Cottage

The carpenter's cottage is decorated in vintage woodworking and logging tools that have been used for several generations in our family. Rainier has a rich history of logging, lumber and woodworking. Some tools have been found nearby. Enjoy a peaceful country setting with deer, birds, occasional bobcat, squirrels, raccoons, occasional elk, but is a short walk to town. Watch deer munch on apples and relax in the shade as you walk around our 14 acres or enjoy them from your windows.

The Farmhouse Cottage is in a country setting yet in-town amenities are only a few minutes’ drive away. Enjoy the view of Mt. Hood. Relax on the patio, watch the sunrise or stargaze at night. Pick from the seasonal backyard garden, or take a few minute’s stroll down the lane to source farm-raised meats and eggs. This home offers all the charm of a cozy country cottage plus Wifi, Roku TV, comfy beds, a well-stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, a playhouse for the kids, and more!

This is a place where wonderful things happen! Watch the birds and fish, enjoy nature. Relax and get refreshed. There are games for outside and inside. Because this is a rural area, the cell phone reception is not so good in some areas of the house, especially downstairs. TV works well and texting works everywhere. WiFi is good. We ask our guests to agree to our house rules and sign a Liability Waiver before checking in.

Walking down the path from the parking area you will see the confluence of Canyon Creek and the Washougal River and cabin nestled amongst cedar trees where you will be staying. The cabin was originally built in the 1920's as a vacation home for a predominate Portland Judge. A century later and the spirit of this escape is alive and well with a full remodel providing modern amenities in a beautiful and rustic setting.
