Lake side house rentals in Lake Toxaway

Well, my husband and I have stayed there on and off for the last six months for local work, so we know the place well. Sadly, our project has come to an end, so our most recent stay will be our last for work. BUT, we love everything about Todd and Barbie and the house, and we will be back for fun hiking weekends. Hiking, waterfalls, everything nearby. It's the best place we've stayed in the area. Private, squeaky clean, big deck, large dining room table for big meals or spreading out the paperwork, GREAT internet connection and TV options. We'll definitely be back on our own - we feel so comfortable there in every way. I could not recommend any higher - would give it a "10" if I could. Todd and Barbie also bent over backwards to help us with a couple of last-minute schedule changes. Such honest and thoughtful hosts. Thanks Todd and Barbie for EVERYTHING over the last few months. We love you guys!

My family loved our stay at Wilstone! The home is lovely and pristine, with a warm and inviting family lodge feel. And the view is amazing! My teenage children enjoyed the downstairs rooms with private bathrooms and we all had fun playing pool. It was a fantastic set up for us! We’ve already agreed we want to go back!

Our family felt right at home at Michael's A-frame. My husband commented that it felt as though we had stayed there before, and it really had. It has every amenity and creature comfort you could want or need, including a nicely stocked spice cabinet, plenty of linens, board games and puzzles, and a place to do laundry. Michael was friendly and helpful. Our family had an awesome time, and we hope to be back to enjoy the property in the summer months!

My family (2 adults & 2 children) took out a few days in Tryon for Spring break (March 2025). Firstly, the location and home were exactly as shown online. The location is extremely private and there was no wear and tear which made all of us feel like we were home from home. The bedrooms (3 in total) were large and spacious, the kitchen well stocked with basic sundries which allowed us to cook every night. Spending time together with breathtaking views was icing on the cake. The winner was the games room in the basement which we spent numerous hours at - pool table, giant Jenga, card game etc. Off the games room was a lovely hot tub which overlooked the mountains which was thoroughly used by all of us. Peter was extremely responsive to questions and super helpful which made us feel extremely looked after. I would highly recommend this location and I am sure we will be back again!

The lake house was even better than the pictures. The property grounds were beautiful and an easy walk down to the dock. Our kids had the best time swimming from the dock and kayaking in the cove. We brought our boat and I really appreciated the nice fendering on the dock. We would love to stay at Phillips house again in the future.

We loved our stay at Brenda's place! It was a great location, an easy walk to the lake. Everything was very comfortable. Brenda communicated very promptly and was very accommodating. We would stay here again!

The Lake house was one of the quietest and most peaceful air b-and-b's we have stayed at. The new back deck is the highlight of the lake cabin. The rest of the cabin is fully equipped and functional, but we hardly left the back deck. With its fenced in area and gate was perfect for the dog. The kayaks and dock are a nice addition. It is located close to good dining at Micas restaurant and Whiteside brewery. We came for the hiking in Panthertown area. We will be back again.

My husband and I got away without the kids for the first time in 8 years- what a wait! This place was just what we needed, it felt very private and was perfectly appointed for a couple. We really enjoyed using the soaking tubs and the open shower, we took the kayaks out 4 times over 3 days, and really enjoyed the deck and the kitchen. The kitchen had everything we needed- the lack of a full-sized oven wasn't a problem because the grill had a burner on it for boiling water and the entire grill was clean and in perfect working order. We had an amazing time on the kayaks and saw a lot of wildlife and beautiful scenery on the lake and the river. The kitchen and the bathroom were stocked with really nice touches- all of the products felt luxurious. The fresh bread, honey and coffee grounds were such a lovely touch. The quiet was really lovely, whether inside or out, it was so calm and very conducive to conversation, reading and listening to nature sounds. We hope to be back soon!

We had an AMAZING stay at this cabin. We originally planned on going out to see the surrounding area, but after arriving and seeing first hand how lovely the cabin and grounds were, we ended up just going to the grocery store and staying in, except for one dinner out in neighboring Tyron NC. From the location to the amenities to the responsiveness of the co hosts, it was just amazing. We will definitely book this cabin again.

Wonderful time in this home, tons of space and close to everything downtown. Lovely location with a peaceful dock to sit out for coffee. Home was comfortable and everything was as described. Thanks again!

If you need a place to get away from the traffic and everyday obligation of work and just need a peaceful reset, this is the place. From the beautiful scenery surrounding you and the sound of the river below, you can feel the stress melt away. The cabin was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. Catherine is a great host and very accommodating. We will definitely book again when we need to recharge and plan on trying to book in the fall because this place has to look amazing when the leaves start changing colors. Thanks again Catherine for a wonderful place and can’t wait to come see you and this wonderful place again.

John's unit was a very nice place to stay. Everything we needed was available and easily accessed. Location was perfect for all the amenities /restaurants/hiking/shopping. We would highly recommend this place to stay for your visit to the western Carolina mountains. John was responsive and available when needed. Come to Sapphire Valley for a great vacation.

This place was so peaceful and relaxing. We stayed on the dock or around the fire pit. Mornings were spent drinking coffee on the deck with the gorgeous lake views. Never even turned the TV on. The house was clean and well stocked. There’s lots to do in the area as well. Definitely will be back.

We enjoyed our stay at John & Amy’s lakefront apartment! The location was great, just a few steps down to the private dock and close enough to town to make a quick run for anything we needed. It was clean and comfortable and very relaxing! To my fellow travelers, I would definitely recommend some earplugs as the road in front of the unit can be noisy when sleeping. But you barely notice it once you’re down by the water. We enjoyed paddling around in their canoe for a bit and relaxing on the dock sunbathing & moonbathing. All in all a very lovely place to get away from daily life for a little while!

Absolutely loved my time at the Viewhouse! The privacy and view are to die for, and the house has everything you need for a mountain getaway. Can't wait to have another retreat here again soon!

Dana’s cabin was absolutely the most beautiful cabin I’ve ever seen!!!!! Every room was so well thought out for a romantic getaway!!!! Her touch of a handwritten note, fresh farm eggs, and a bottle of wine to enjoy during your stay was the perfect touch!!!! Highly recommend for any couple to relax and recharge with your loved one!!!!

My husband and I loved staying here! It was absolutely beautiful. The space is so creative and cozy. You truly are off grid and that calls for lots of creativity in many different situations. Definitely somewhere I’d recommend if you enjoy the outdoors.

Great stay in Highlands! A few things to note - the mile drive after you get off the main road is gravel and there’s no service. There was also no Uber/Lyft but we were driving so no issues there. Just a couple things to plan for during your stay! Overall, amazing place, extremely clean, & great communication with host. Would 100% stay here again!

This place was our favorite place to stay in all our families vacations. The house was just beautiful. So open! My parents came and stayed for two nights, and they felt right at home. My children stayed downstairs, and loved the games! My husband and I loved the master and the master bathroom. The couch is super comfy! We used the hot tub every evening. There is a lot to do in the area, Sliding Rock is one of our favorite getaway excursions, about 45 minutes away. Coming back from 55 degrees cold water, the hot tub was wonderful! There is so much to say about this home, it was perfect for our family. The kitchen is top of the line, and laundry room is right off the kitchen, which makes it nice and convenient to wash clothes. Having a family of 6, laundry is a must! Also, the Sapphire Valley Resort amenities is GREAT for families! We rented a John boat to go fishing on Fairfield Lake, the view is stunning! We have fallen in love with this home and already booked again for next year!

Indian creek is exactly as advertised and couldn’t be more beautiful. Our boys played in the creek, we picked blackberries, and found everything very tidy and comfortable. We will definitely be coming back.

We stayed in the cabin for 5 nights. The cabin was beautiful , not hard to find and very well maintained . Lynda was very responsive and helpful with the directions to the cabin as well as tips for us during the stay. We enjoyed our stay and loved Lake Toxaway and the surrounding places , and will definitely consider this cabin again if we were to plan another trip to the mountains.
