Revitalization of a 106-year-old inn and storehouse, featuring a Japanese moss garden and a semi-open-air bath, 188 m² [Limited to one group per day, Kominya Mitsuhama Inn]

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ ◆ Limited to one group per day/private ~ long-established ryokan and warehouse experience-style stay ◆ ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ■ Location, History, Features ■ In Mitsuhama, the port town of Matsuyama/Dogo, there are four white-walled storehouses built in the Edo period and four gardens surrounding a 106-year-old long-established kaiseki ryokan (formerly the Kanaga Ryokan). The white plastered earthen walls, natural Kenji-ji bamboo fences, and other features have been gradually renovated and revitalized (currently in the process of revitalization).Originally an old house opened as an almost 100% inbound accommodation. We are conducting a semi open-air bath in the interior of the warehouse and renovation work centered around the water. ■ Soothing moss garden ■ There are three gardens: a front garden, a courtyard, and a back garden. Well water flows everywhere, and there is a stream that flows between the water basin, the gourd, the deer repeller, and the stepping stones. The pond is home to koi, goldfish, medaka, conger eel, and river shrimp, and it is a biotope space where wild birds visit. ■ Chick-in lounge (cafe/bar space), souvenir corner ■ You can drink authentic cocktails on the first floor of the main building. There is a souvenir corner with imported interior goods, accessories, natural stone, and more from Japan, Bali, and other countries.

Osamijima, Shimanami Kaido. A large deck with a view of the sea and the sunset. Open-air bath with a view of the sea. Seaside retreat

This accommodation is limited to one group per day and allows you to enjoy the beauty of the many islands in the Seto Inland Sea and the sunset. Designed by the host, an architect who has won numerous awards overseas. Not extraordinary, but a "delicate life" with the theme of enriching everyday life. You can experience that kind of life here. There is a separate indoor bath from the Hinoki bath, but the view of Setouchi and the starry sky from the Goemon bath, heated with firewood, is the best. If you're lucky, you'll see artificial satellites and meteors. The water heated by firewood never gets cold. It warms you from the core of your body. The bedding is specially ordered from a long-established bedding manufacturer in Kyoto, and the bath invites you to relax your body and mind and sleep soundly. Most guests say they sleep well. During the day, you might want to spend some time in the lounge filled with houseplants. Enjoy the sunlight shining through the trees from the skylight. Here, the right answer is to do nothing and just be. How about emptying your mind? If you request at least a week before your stay, we can prepare local food from Oshima Island and seasonal food that we can get through a special route. If you wish, you can also dine at a counter made of pure cedar, similar to a traditional Japanese restaurant.

In the early morning, the time spent gazing at the sea, which is reminiscent of a lake, surrounded by silence and birdsong, is soothing to the soul. The view of the sea and the islands from the Mikando Road that passes above the village is picturesque. It is also very convenient as a base for cycling, touring, and island hopping.

This is a private accommodation limited to only one group per day. 3 rooms and 1 kitchen, quiet and relaxing old house style, large groups can also stay.

(A mini collection of vegetables and fruits.) When I discovered a baby the size of a soybean under the female watermelon flower in my first home garden, I was impressed, even though I was old. Every morning, I searched for the blooming female flowers. This summer, watermelons are expected to be abundant. Strawberries are still not confident in their fight against insects. Mandarin oranges and grapes are a few years away. (Mini astronomy) I remembered observing the stars in the night sky with the naked eye when I was a child, and for the first time in about 60 years, I observed the space station and the moon with binoculars. I also saw the Little Dipper. The night sky is narrow, surrounded by two-story houses, but next time I would like to get an astronomical telescope and observe nebulae and Saturn's rings. (Barbecue) Served with vegetables from the field. (Piano) You can play from 8 am to 8 pm. In a separate building. I hope you can make small discoveries and be impressed by "Travel Inn". Geographically, it is located in the center of the city, with a convenience store 400 m away, and Aeon, Kentucky, Misu, and Sushiro about 1 km away. I rent bicycles for shopping and sightseeing in Imabari City.

There is a craft ice cream shop on site, and a coffee and donut shop will also open in December.A sweet bite to taste after running through gently refreshes the memories of your trip. There is also a quiet beach within walking distance, where the morning sea breeze and the evening light will give you a memorable time. The convenience store is also a short walk away, and it is a few minutes' drive from Omishima IC. Truly Unique, Cozy, Private Historic Japanese Home

The Story Behind the Home This villa was created by relocating and preserving the locally renowned Imai Residence, once owned by a prominent merchant family. There are records showing that Katsu Kaishu — a key figure in Japan’s transition from the Samurai era to the modern Meiji period — stayed here, making this not just a place to sleep, but a piece of living history. Inside, you’ll also find replica antique weapons and artifacts on display , reflecting how the house was once protected.
