"De Gulle splendor" Vacation home, Friesland

Our cozy vacation cottage, originally was an old stable that we (Caroline and Jan) converted together, with lots of love and respect for the old details and materials, into this "Gulle Pracht". Through a private driveway with parking, you reach the terrace with the spacious garden, a lawn with surrounding tall trees, where you can enjoy. Through the two French doors, you step into the bright and cozy living room with the white old beams and a fully equipped open kitchen. There is wireless internet available, TV and DVD. Because of the ceiling in the living room that has been removed, beautiful light falls in from the skylights and you have a view of the roof structure with the old round hoods. The beds are located on top of the two lofts. The comfortable double bed is accessed by an open staircase. The other loft, where a third or fourth bed can possibly be made, is only accessible by flexible guests via a ladder. It is not suitable for small children because of the danger of falling, but older children find it exciting to sleep there. Please note, the two lofts share the same large open space. Under the old beams, you can sleep peacefully, where only the sound of rustling trees, whistling birds or your deliciously snoring bedmate will be heard. The room is heated by central heating, but also only the wood-fired stove can heat the cottage comfortably. You will be provided with enough wood from us to start a cozy fire. Through an old stable door in the living room, you come to the bathroom with beamed ceiling and underfloor heating. The bathroom has a good shower, double sink and toilet. With its inlaid mosaics and all kinds of funny and old details, this space is also a feast for the eyes. There are two bicycles available for nice trips in the wider area (Harlingen, Franeker Bolsward). We may want to drop you off in Harlingen for a crossing to Terschelling. You can leave the car in our yard for a while. We, ourselves, live in the farmhouse which is in the same yard. We are available for help, information and advice for fun trips in our beautiful Friesland. Your cottage and our farmhouse are separated by our garden and the big old barn (with pool table), so we both have our own space and privacy. Kimswerd , located on the eleven city route is a small, quiet and beautiful village where our Frisian hero " de Grutte Pier" was born and lived. He still watches over us, in petrified form, at the beginning of our little street, next to the centuries-old Church, which is very much worth visiting as well. You can do your shopping in Harlingen, the supermarket is a fifteen minute bike ride away. The old port of Harlingen is 10 km from our cottage. Kimswerd is located just across the Afsluitdijk. From there, follow the signs N31 Harlingen/ Leeuwarden/Zurich and take the first exit at Kimswerd, 1st right at the traffic circle, 1st right again at the next traffic circle, straight ahead at the intersection, across the bridge and immediately take the first left (Jan Timmerstraat). At the beginning of this street, next to the church, stands the statue of the Grutte Pier. We live in the farmhouse behind the church, Jan Timmerstraat 6, first wide gravel path on the right. - For small children, sleeping on the loft without a fence is not advisable because of the danger of falling. It's just fun for big kids, the loft is accessible by a ladder. Please note, it is above 1 large open space with no privacy.

Buitenhuysje de Roos has recently been completely renovated and wonderfully quiet. The cottage is small but nice, about 55m2 and has 3 bedrooms. In 2022, our cottage has been renovated, with a new bathroom, kitchen and cast floor. There is a fireplace and fine wooden veranda, where you sit very private, with beautiful views. Within 5 min. you drive to Bergen or Schoorl, where you can find supermarkets, nice shops and catering. The dunes and the forest are within walking distance and by bike you can reach the beach in 20 min.

Our house is in the middle of the water sports area of Friesland. A beautiful place for boating, swimming, cycling, hiking or skating! And a golf course and the forest are also nearby! From July 4th to September 5th, we rent our house weekly (or several weeks). Arrival and departure day is Friday.

We had a lovely holiday with six adults. Everything worked wonderfully. The hot tub is great! Everything was clean and exactly as it was described on the photos. The communication with the owner is great, she responds quickly and kindly. We would go back there anytime. One car can park right in front of the house, the other in front of the residential park in a free parking lot. The path is about 5 minutes - everything is easily accessible. Shopping can also be reached directly within 4 minutes by car. It is highly recommended.

Marlies is a wonderful host! As a cyclist, I was particularly pleased with the safe parking for my bike overnight. Wow! Nor and Mat’s cottage was the perfect escape. The most comfortable stay with picturesque views. The home was immaculate, and Nor and Mat have thought of everything—including toys and crafts for our 3 year old. Their communication and instructions were great, too. The location was wonderful too—a short drive to many restaurants and stores while still quiet and peaceful. We loved our time there!

We had a wonderful time staying at Wim and Stephanie's place and felt right from the start. The cozy house is located perfectly to reach some of the most beautiful spots in the Netherlands. It has everything you could wish for while on holiday (actually one of the best equipped kitchens I have ever seen in an airbnb), as well as some very comfy beds. We had a perfect stay. Richard welcomes us with great enthusiasm and a wonderful little dog who also comes to give you a festive welcome 🥰 Regarding the environment, it was simply beautiful, whether around (lake, beach, promenade, nice little village) or the land around the cottage. There's no better place to recharge your batteries in nature in an exceptional setting. (A small boat is available for the more adventurous;) ) As far as the accommodation is concerned, there was nothing to say about the cleanliness, faithful to the photos except that we expected to have two separate bedrooms. There were indeed two large beds, however one of them would be on the mezzanine (so open room). Other than that, we loved our stay and will be back! Don't hesitate if you need a short stay in nature (only 40 minutes from Amsterdam)

We spent two relaxing and beautiful nights at Henrico's great cottage. We were particularly impressed by the beautiful garden. We were able to soak up a lot of sun and tranquility there. The cottage has everything you need, is super cozy and you can only feel comfortable. The train station is quick to reach and the ride to Rotterdam is easy and stress-free. A perfect place to experience the dynamics in the city and at the same time enjoy the peace and quiet outside! We would come back.

We felt at home, it is a beautiful little house, tastefully furnished with a lot of love for detail, everything you need and very quiet and very relaxed environment. Great dishes, we will definitely be happy to come back. You need a bike or car, it's a bit outside.
