Cabin vacation rentals in Hvalfjörður

The cabin was only about 15 minutes from Reykjavík and 45 from Keflavík airport. With the directions we were given, we found it easily and check-in was a breeze! The views from the cabin were spectacular, and the large windows made us feel surrounded by nature in the best way! Having the hot tub accessible was so nice, especially after long days of chilly outdoor activity. Great experience!

We booked the hut for the private geothermal hot tub and although it takes 1-2 hours to fill it was absolutely amazing! We especially enjoyed the peace and quiet, there is nothing else than a nice view and smell of pine with the sound of some birds around.

Really comfortable cabin in an exceptional location with fantastic view. If you enjoy Scandinavian style comfort and solitude in a scenic lakeside setting then this is the place. Everything was as described, very easy to find with the precise satnav directions from the hosts. The sauna, hot tub and decking chairs overlooking the lake are a real plus. Ivar was a responsive host. Nearest town for shops and restaurants is approx 25 min drive. Be aware that the wooden steps leading down to the cabin from the parking place are quite steep and with no handrail.

Very nice and cozy cabin. Conveniently located if you’re looking to explore the southwestern island by vehicle. ~5min drive to the town of Selfoss for groceries and supplies. The hot tub is a nice addition. A private room for each of two couples and a loft that slept our two kids. Worked nicely for our family.

Very beautiful cottage, we could stay so relaxing and cozy mood. Especially warm waterspring bath of outside, it was so nice to relieve fatigue. I really recommend this cottage to other people.

Frederikke's cottage was perfect for us. The location was great, it was easy to reach interesting destinations in southwest Iceland by a car. Although there are also other cottages in the area, it's still quiet and beautiful, and it feels like you are right on the edge of the wilderness. I've never had a such a view from the kitchen window! The cottage was nice and clean, and there was everything we needed. Frederikke was great! She gave us useful information, and it was smooth and easy to communicate with her. I can highly recommend Frederikke's cottage!

My family and I thorough enjoyed our stay! After a long day of travel the hot tub and peaceful surroundings were just what was needed! The location was within easy driving distance to many local attractions and to the city for any supplies needed. We would highly recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful stay just outside the capital.

This place was peaceful, gorgeous, and exactly what I was looking for. The view was amazing, centrally located near both the golden circle and restaurants and amenities in selfoss. Sigrun and Sigurdur were wonderful hosts. The little stream chuckling beside the place was lovely. I would stay here again.

Wir haben uns in diesem süßen Ferienhaus sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Haus war mit viel Liebe zum Detail ausgestattet und hatte eine wunderschön große Terrasse zum Toben für die Kinder, inklusive Trampolin und Zip-Line. Von dort aus konnten wir viele Ausflugsziele gut erreichen. Danke, dass wir so einen angenehmen Aufenthalt bei euch genießen durften.

If you’re looking for a quiet getaway that’s also close to attractions around the golden circle (1 hour or even less for Kerid crater) and south coast (1-2 hours depending on where you are going), this is the place. Steinunn’s cabin is up on her family farm property, and it was restful and gorgeous. The only downside is that we only had a few days there - if we had more time we certainly would have explored more of the farm and area around.

Such a beautiful setting and comfortable stay. I wouldn't change a thing about this place! There are four waterfalls within an hours drive of this place that you don't need to hike to in order to view (highly recommend all of them). If you plan on doing any outdoor activities that require towels, I'd recommend picking some up at the nearby convenience store (about 15min away) as there are only two. Also, the kitchen already had some cooking oil and spices, which was a nice surprise :)

Marteinn welcomed us in his lovely house. It was clean and comfortable and there were lots of birds around the house. He was very quick in responding and we felt right at home. Thank you!

Very stylish turfed roofed cabin on the side of the river. Very friendly hosts living in a neighboring geodesic dome. Very good pizza across the river. Highly recommended!

Diese Unterkunft ist traumhaft und idyllisch, mit viel Geschmack eingerichtet und sehr bequem. Nach einem langen Fahrt von Akureyri nach Süden wir sind einfach in einem Paradies gelandet-so hat auf uns die Unterkunft gewirkt! Versteckt zwischen Bäumen und viel Blumen , wunderschön ausgestattet und mit eine großartige Terrasse vorne ! Wir werden diese drei Nächte lange in Gedanken behalten! Eidur ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit und hat sofort geantwortet und ein paar gute Hinweise gegeben was wir noch sehen können. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und können nur dankbar sein und weiter empfehlen! Wirklich ein Paradies!

Wir haben unsere Island-Reise hier begonnen und sind 3 Tage geblieben. Für uns der optimale Start! Wir haben die Ruhe und besonders den Ausblick geliebt und gleichzeitig war es ein super Ausgangspunkt für den Golden Circle. Die Hütte ist auch sehr schön eingerichtet und recht gut ausgestattet. Uns hat es an nichts gemangelt. Smári war auch gut erreichbar und sehr zuvorkommend. Falls wir nochmal nach Island kommen, schauen wir gern wieder rein. Vielen Dank!

Magnus ha sido un excelente anfitrión. Nos proporcionó toda la información de la cabaña antes de llegar y, además, nos recomendó planes para hacer en Islandia. Siempre respondía muy rápido y ha estado muy atento durante toda nuestra estancia. La cabaña tiene una ubicación excelente y es completamente igual a las fotos. Es muy acogedora y tiene todo lo imprescindible para pasar unos días, ya sea con amigos o con familia. En definitiva, si volviera a Islandia, volvería a elegir esta cabaña, tanto por las instalaciones como por el anfitrión. 10/10.

Hermosa cabaña, muy cálida y cuidada. Tienes todo lo necesario para pasar unos días hermosos y tranquilos. Hay unos juegos para niños bajando un poco el jardín, vista increíble del mar y la montaña, muy cerca de Borgarness y a la vez en el medio del campo. Katrin dio información muy específica para llegar, que nos ayudó para llegar al lugar. Todo perfecto la verdad. Nos hubiera encantado quedarnos más días.

Such a wonderful place, so cozy and comfortable. Would stay here again 100% and recommend to couples traveling in the area. Ari was very intentional with the design and amenities and it was everything we hoped it would be.

You can’t go wrong staying here! Beautiful location and easily driveable to Reykjavík. Lots of animals around too, which we loved.

We had an amazing stay! Viktor’s home had everything we needed for a family of 5. Many bedrooms and two bathrooms were a plus! Private in a gated community, but an easy and scenic drive to all the sights. A perfect experience for our first time in Iceland!
