Built over 100 years ago as a chicken hatchery, this gorgeous little gem has been fully restored as a two-story guest cottage. Located in New Paltz just minutes off Exit 18 on I-87 in a very private, quiet, country setting. Only ten minutes from New Paltz Village & SUNY New Paltz and set back on a lightly traveled road for those long summer strolls. You don't even need a car to get here! It's just 12 minutes by taxi from the New Paltz Bus Station or bring your bike up and cycle everywhere!
“The cottage is perfect if you’re looking for a little R&R. It’s secluded enough to have peace and quiet but a short trip into New Paltz if you want to grab a bite to eat. My husband and I are about to have our third child so we spent most of the time lounging in bed watching TV and relaxing on the cute porch. If we ever get the opportunity to have a kid free weekend, we would def stay here again!”

“Angela and John’s place is exactly the kind that you’d want for an out-of-town getaway and memorable experience. It’s cozy, comfortable, and private. It’s also conveniently close to all of the main stores (by car.) When we arrived it was perfectly clean by our standards and there were plenty of cleaning supplies available to do your own additional tidying if you’re more particular. The bathroom is super spacious, well lit, and the shower has glass doors which are more ideal for an intimate stay. The kitchen is a perfect size for cooking a meal or two and the miniature refrigerator holds more than you’d expect! There are plenty of dishes available so that you really don’t need to bring anything from home. The living room area lets in a lot of natural light which feels so inviting during the day time. The porch area is also really nice for sitting and relaxing at your leisure. Bedroom is very cozy and has sliding doors for added privacy within the cottage itself. Overall a it was a great stay and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore the area for a weekend!”
This is not for everyone! We offer a small and very private (heated) cabin that sits on a seasonal stream. There is no bathroom, plumbing, or electricity. There is an outhouse. It is not suitable for toddlers, as there is a stream with a steep rocky bank and a narrow bridge without a railing. Lake George (the actual lake) is 1/4 mile away as is a marina (2 closest are Castaway and Fishers). The village with public beaches (and bathhouse) is a 10 min drive. There is a hiking trail from the cabin.
“Cathy's cabin was PERFECT for an unplugged weekend away in the wilderness! My partner and I have been more or less trapped in our urban apartment for 3 months and just needed to be in nature, unplugged from the news and from Zoom meetings. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, the setting was gorgeous, and the obvious care that Cathy takes with this property all made this a wonderful trip. We wanted to leave our phones off for the weekend, so the printed directions and information on local hikes was very appreciated. Buck Mountain is very close by and it was a GREAT hike, even on a 90 degree day - and we were very grateful for Cathy's solar shower to rinse off afterwards (and again later in the day when the sun went down). Communication was great, check-in was a breeze, the amenities (screened-in porch, solar shower, fire pit, propane stove, even the outhouse!) were perfect... we already want to go back. THANK YOU for a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend!”
