Am I sleeping in an art gallery? Or is it a botanical garden? Or a wine making lab? My host in Maxcunú, Adolfo, is a retired university researcher. He’s an agronomy engineer, but has several hobbies he’s passionate about, always focused primarily on the culture and lands of the Maya. My room, called "Tropical Birds", has remarkable works of art, and indeed, the whole property is covered with fascinating artworks. Adolfo volunteered to pick me up and drop me off at the Tren Maya station, which in any case is near town. It's a pleasant small town, safe to walk at night. Apart from Adolfo's own art gallery and botanical gardens and a few places around the plaza, there's not a lot of touristic interest right in town, but it's well located for several Maya sites, caves, and walking in the hills. The facility is as described with all the things you'd expect in a good airbnb. This is one place where conversation with the host is a definite plus, with his extraordinary wealth of knowledge.

I definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Campeche. It's one of those places that makes you feel welcome and comfortable from the first moment. I would come back without a second thought! The location is unbeatable: safe, quiet, and just a few minutes walk from everything you may need (downtown, squares and restaurants). All rooms are impeccable, very comfortable. Very good taste in the selection of atmosphere, lighting and furniture. My stay was just perfect. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, with all the details taken care of: soft sheets, fresh towels, coffee, water, even welcome chocolates that were greatly appreciated after the road trip.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at the bungalow and had a wonderful experience! We plan to return over and over. Esteban picked us up at the airport and took us directly to the listing. Everything was spotless and welcoming. The view is amazing and the pictures don't do it justice. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom and kitchen was very efficient and there is also an outdoor shower. The kayak is for two people and we had a lot of fun paddling around. There are some friendly dogs in the neighborhood that made it feel like home, as we were missing our pets. Neighbors weren't often seen, but were always friendly and waved. The beach is very private, and the outdoor patio is a great place to sit, have drinks, or eat a meal. Esteban was our driver and took us grocery shopping. He was a delight and very helpful with recommendations. Overall, this place is amazing and we will definitely be back. Thank you Ariadna for everything! This bungalow is very special!

If, like us, you are going to Campeche as a couple or with one or two young children as well, Juliana's loft is the perfect place. It is close enough to the Walled City to walk in 10 minutes or so, but outside of the walls so it is easy to park. One end of the Malecon is also about 10 minutes to walk. Nearby there is an Oxxo and Walmart, both walking distance. The loft is designed well, and we immediately felt right at home. There's loads of light flooding the rooms, but proper curtains to shut it out if you wish. And the hammock was a wonderful extra touch - somehow both my boys managed to sleep in it. I cannot recommend more highly this place: Juliana's responsiveness, even over the Easter weekend, her design taste and thoughtfulness, and the location means that it'll be our first choice when going back to Campeche.

This was the best surprise of our trip! Wish we had stayed at Mur Mura and in Campeche longer! The town was peaceful and our room was beautiful. Really can’t ask for better 😍
