Cottage vacation rentals in Hatteras Island

Another fantastic Spring Break at the Best Box! The nicest, cleanest, most relaxing rental we’ve ever found. Didn’t think the property could be any better than it was last year, but the owners have managed to make many creative and thoughtful upgrades. Enjoyed days at the beach, days on the sound, chartered a boat for fishing, ate tons of seafood, and saw the best sunsets right from the deck. Literally took advantage of everything in this house - from crabbing to fishing to baggo to flying kites to playing board games to darts and foosball. Oh and kayaking, relaxing in the hammock, and tubing, too.

We had an amazing stay! The house was absolutely beautiful — spacious, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location and the view were incredible, and we especially loved relaxing in the hot tub, which was perfect for the cool spring evenings. The host was kind, welcoming, and very responsive to any questions we had. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great getaway!

this is our fourth stay at Pelican Point and we absolutely love being here. It's a unique property with character, natural beauty, outstanding sunsets and easy access to the ocean. Every night we went out for silent sunset viewings from the bungalow porch or the dock and enjoyed the evening bird life flying overhead, the calls, and the beautiful clouds and colors as the sun sunk into the Pamlico Sound . The spacious kitchen had everything we needed and we had many wonderful meals. Beds are comfy, and loved being able to spread out between two residences. The pool and hottub were great options since it was a bit cold for swimming in early May. Communication with Dawn was quick and seamless if you had a questions for her! A plus vacation rental all around!

Dare Dream was just as pictured on the photos. The kitchen was amazing and incredibly well stocked, and the beds were comfortable. The proximity to the beach was perfect for us and just what we were looking for.

The house is beautiful, and the location perfect. It's so nice to be that close to the beach and watch the ocean while having a coffee on the deck in the morning. The house had everything we needed. Jennifer was very responsive and friendly. We just wish we didn't have to worry about towels and linens, it would have made our life easier, but we knew we would have to take care of that from the listing.

We had a great stay! It was awesome being so close to the beach. The provided beach chairs were really nice, but make sure to bring your own umbrella or tent. We loved sitting on the porch and taking in the view over the dunes. The dumbwaiter was super helpful for getting groceries and bags upstairs. Also, the place was very clean. All in all, a great week and we’d definitely come back!

A Superb Cottage in the Heart of Ocracoke. We just spent 10 nights in Grey Pearl and loved it! The cottage was very comfortable for just my wife and me, but would easily accomodate up to 6 people (with the sofa bed) with 2 comfortable bedrooms, one roomy modern bath, a large living, dining and kitchen area and a spacious rear screened-in porch. The cottage has all the amenities you may need, including wi-fi, washer/dryer, A/C, and a fully equipped kitchen wi. It has a fabulous outdoor shower, and the perfect rear porch for reading, enjoying morning coffee and evening cocktails. It’s conveniently located in a very quiet neighborhood on a back road, about a 10 minute walk from Ocracoke Coffee, the Flying Melon restaurant, the Back Porch, Dajio, and other eating places and shops. Zillies is just around the corner. Jennifer is a wonderful, helpful host, communicating and answering any questions we had. We will be back. We highly recommend Grey Pearl !

The name speaks true! It really is a beautiful hidden gem in Avon. From its ideal location to everything, to all the amenities the host provide. This location has been the best I’ve had the pleasure of staying at. It made my boyfriend’s birthday weekend and our friends loved it! David & Misty are truly wonderful hosts. Thank you again! 😊

We had a very pleasant stay at Amy’s home nestled in a very quiet and serene sound side neighborhood. We found Just Enough to be more than enough for 2 and a dog! Loved the screened porch and spent almost every evening out there just relaxing and watching the storms on rain days. We were a very short drive to some really great restaurants- loved the sandwiches from Pamlico Deli and steamed shrimp from Tavern 12! Great nearby coffee shops, gift shops, and bakeries (get an Apple Ugly from Orange Blossom!). The jeep rental spot is one road over so that was convenient for our beach off-roading day. For one first time visitor (2 if you count the dog), and one returning to OBX after many years, we couldn’t have been happier with our choice to stay down in Frisco at Just Enough. Highly recommend this rental and we would absolutely return on a future visit to the Outer Banks. Thank you for everything!

The house is nice and we were very comfortable. Plenty of space for two families with kids and pets. The pool is big and the deck is nice with several spots to sit and relax. The beach is huge in this part of North Avon and is rare these days in the outer banks. Highly recommend and would stay here again. No issues

We had a great stay at Out of the Blue. Margot was so responsive and helpful. Perfect location to get to/from beach easily and close to grocery, restaurants. Comfortable home. Would definitely return!

Mary Ellen and Jim’s place was absolutely perfect for our stay on the island. It was quaint, clean, and overall lovely. The outdoor shower was amazing and exactly what you need after a long day at the beach. On top of that the AC is top notch, even on the hottest day we knew we could come back to a cool space to relax and unwind. The location is central to all the great spots on the island, just a short golf cart ride! Mary Ellen and Jim were very accommodating in providing us with everything we needed from golf cart chargers to bikes and ocean kayaks. Also, the handwritten note welcoming us to the space and to the island was a really nice touch, making us feel right at home . We will definitely be coming back for another stay.

The cottage was charming. The outside area was beautiful. A nice relaxing stay with everything we needed.

Crabby Pad was beautiful. We kept the windows open and enjoyed the breeze. We fished off the dock at night, caught a blue crab. Little tricky to find but once you do it's a beautiful little place. Will definitely visit again!

Great location on canal and near town shops/restaurants. Multiple kayaks/life jackets for use. Home is well-maintained and offers plenty of sleeping options.

My friends and I stayed in Cheryl’s home for a post graduation trip. We loved our time in Salvo and the house offered everything we could need and more. Cheryl is very responsive and her property manager Donna was there if we needed anything. The house comfortably fit 9 people and the kitchen was well supplied with dishes. The beach was a short walk away and the town of Salvo is quiet and cute. I would recommend Cheryl’s house if you’re looking for a quiet get away.

We enjoyed our stay! Everything was great from location, cleanliness and ease of checking in and out. Dylan was a great host and we will return!

The Blue Mere was a wonderful place to hang for the weekend with family. Well-appointed and comfortable. Plenty of space for the 6 adults and 3 children in our crew. The walk to the ocean was easy although the dune crossing is exercise if you're bringing a lot of weight in your wagon or cooler. Meredith is a wonderful host. She is responsive and easy to communicate with. All in all, a 5-star experience. We would come again.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. Host was very flexible and allowed us to make last minute changes to our accommodations.

Tim was very responsive and gave clear instructions, House was as described with ample parking and at a great location (you can walk 100 yards and be on the beach). We were in town surf fishing and from the driveway to The Point was 10 minutes with options for food, tackle, bait etc. between the two. I have rented from Tim before and I will again, it has been seamless every time.
