Pappy’s Roost (Old Town Vibe!)

Pappy’s Roost is vintage and is up the street from a railroad track that has locomotives coming through very slowly because of the tight confines of Harrodsburg. The track is not extremely close, but you can definitely see the train when standing on the sidewalk in front of The Roost. The Roost still can offer sound sleep at night because the proximity is not near enough to the tracks to be startling or disturbing to sleep. Pappy’s has been restored and has every amenity!

There aren’t enough words to say how incredible this place is or how accommodating Lori is. She has a hospitality gift and it shows in every crevice of this adorable house. It’s comfortable, stylish, perfectly appointed and just overwhelmingly homey and her thoughtful touches are everywhere. My family needs to invent reasons to come to Kentucky just so we can stay here again and for longer to enjoy it more! I couldn’t recommend it more highly—it is the hands-down best Airbnb we have ever stayed in!

The view from this place is fantastic! Perched on a cliff is a great description, we were able to look down from the deck and watch birds flying up and down the Dix River basin. If you are looking for a quiet getaway or a nice place to relax after an event at Centre College, this is the place for you. The sitting area on the porch was a favorite and the weather was perfect during our stay; the pleasant hum of cicadas was a joy to this entomologist's ears. The facilities were very nice with plenty of room to sit and relax in the downstairs or mid-level lounging areas. Fletcher was quick to answer questions and the stay was loved by all; I would stay here again with no reservations.

Susan was a wonderful host and her home was beautiful with a historical charm (and spotless). We had a party of 8 and it left us more than enough room for privacy and socializing. We enjoyed the small (and large) touches that made this a special and unique stay. We all enjoyed the train more than I expected and spent a late night playing family games in the dining room. The girls all enjoyed the decor for social media worthy pictures and it was fun for us to be able to get ready together in the large master bedroom and bathroom with the cutest dressing area. Prime location for distilleries and a nice break from the crowds after a day at Keeneland. We hope to return again and be able to use the outdoor space as we just ran out of time. It made for wonderful memories for everyone and I thank Susan for that opportunity and her great hospitality.

You will not be disappointed with Jan’s place. It is updated, clean, and beautifully decorated. The farm is stunning, with magical sunsets viewed from comfy lounge chairs each evening. You can take walks on the property and see their animals. It is very, very cool especially for a NY gal. I slept well, cooked dinner each night with the nice kitchen items that are stocked. And finally, Jan is truly a lovely person, friendly and helpful. Go for it!
