Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Sparkling clean, one-bedroom suite located on a quiet street, equipped with all the modern amenities required to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. Backing onto the Galloping Goose trail, our home is within a 5 minute walking distance to Eagle Creek Village which has a grocery store, liquor store, Starbucks, Tim Horton’s, Cob’s Bread, and a fitness center. Bear Mountain golf course & downtown Victoria is a 15 minute drive. Please remove shoes while inside the suite.

Absolutely loved our stay! The room was quaint and charming with a gorgeous view, and the bidet was a nice touch-definitely a highlight! The neighbourhood was peaceful and quiet, perfect for relaxing. Our host was attentive and welcoming, and having parking included made things so easy. We felt very comfortable and at home throughout our stay. Would happily stay again-thank you!

I had the pleasure of staying at Liliane’s place in Saanich, Victoria for just one night, and even though it was a short stay, it exceeded all my expectations. The location is very convenient—easy to get around by public buses—which made exploring the area simple and stress-free. The bedroom and bathroom were exceptionally clean, cozy, and peaceful, offering the perfect environment for a restful night. I especially appreciated Liliane’s flexibility with check-in and check-out times, which made my travel experience much smoother. Her thoughtful gesture of leaving a cookie treat was such a sweet surprise—although we didn’t get to meet in person, I could feel the warmth and care in her hospitality. I only wish I had more time to stay longer! There’s still so much I want to see in Victoria, and I would absolutely love to return and stay at Liliane’s place again in the future. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful stay! The place is thoughtfully designed with so much attention to comfort and detail. Everything from the quality of the amenities to the little decorative touches like fresh flowers on the table! really showed how much care went into setting up the space. While the room is on the cozier side, the smart layout, aesthetic choices and the amenities provided made it feel just perfect for my short stay. Fiona is very responsive, instructions are clearly mentioned and the location is well connected to the downtown. Overall, a great choice!
