The Roosevelt

What a lovely space on one end of the Lodge! You can sit here and look down the valley at such beauty. The Hideaway was named after the Roosevelt Mine, which opened in 1907 after the gold and silver crash, reportedly closing in 1919 due to differences amongst the owners. Although it never operated commercially after that time, veins were pursued until the 1930’s. President Roosevelt actually visited Pitkin and stayed at the local hotel which is still in operation.

Alpine Loft

A wonderful room sitting atop the Lodge on the second floor. Must be able to go up a stairway to get to this room. Named after the Alpine Tunnel being the first tunnel constructed through the Continental Divide in Colorado. It was completed in 1882, abandoned in 1910 and it saw lots of activity during the mining heyday, which brought many folks through Pitkin. 1 Queen sleeper sofa 1 Full over Full Bunk 1 Twin over Twin Bunk
