“Jacqui's B&B is right on the road through Golspie directly overlooking the sea. The outside looked smart and inviting and we were not disappointed once we got to our room! Beautifully decorated, large, airy room with a full-size bathroom which was an added bonus. Lovely breakfast the next day too. We stayed in a number of B&Bs throughout our trip on the NC500 and I think this was my favourite. Jacqui was a lovely, friendly host and communication from start to finish was perfect!”
Quiet location, friendly host. clean, close to the beach, Good stop over for travelling further north e.g. Orkney or Thurso or coming back the way, close to Dunrobin castle. Ideal for the north coast 500, and also a great relaxing weekend or few days away for a quiet break
“We had a lovely stay, sitting out back having fish and chips watching the tide come in. Our hosts were very hospitable and quick responses to messages were appreciated. The rooms were clean and tidy and had everything we needed.”
The Steading ground floor comprises of a spacious kitchen and a bath room with a shower. Up the stairs you find a double bedroom. Quite compact but very cosy.
“We booked this place due to its quirkiness, we fancied something a bit different. Sue was there to great us on our arrival, make us feel at home and show us around the Strathy. She’d already got the log fire going for us! It doesn’t matter that it’s off the beaten track as the Strathy is fully equipped for self catering. We cooked both nights we were there with a plethora of cooking pots, pans and utensils. We wanted for nothing. The bed took some getting used to up in the eves but it all added to the quirkiness of the place. The shower was nice and hot and if you get a bit chilly there’s a red hot heater in there as well as a heater in the bedroom. There’s lots of interesting artwork about the Strathy and grounds so go and explore. I particularly liked the big drift wood throne and the robot frogs. Sue was conscientious, attentive, friendly and helpful along with Bob her little helper. N.B. The listing does state that Sue may want access to the shower and fridge in the Strathy but we never actually saw her using either during our 2 night stay. We would definitely stay here again if in the area (I would dearly like to spend time with Bob again).”
