Trotula Charming House is a historic-artistic apartment, renovated and restored in order to protect and enhance the original rooms. It is located in an ancient convent of the order of Benedictine Olivetani monks converted into a noble residence at the end of the 1600s, in the Historic Center of Salerno between the ancient Cathedral and the Garden of Minerva. On the thick walls the plaster and period frescoes dating from between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries have been discovered and recovered. The apartment has been renovated and restored, protecting and enhancing its original environments. On the thick walls the plaster and period frescoes dating from between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries have been discovered and recovered. The high wooden beamed ceilings, brought to light through the demolition of the false ceilings, once again ennoble the rooms. The privileged and dominant position of the building of historical-artistic prestige allows you to admire from the large windows the roofs of the Historic Center, the sea that bathes Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. Through the creation of artisanal supplies and a careful selection of furnishing elements in this project created by the brothers Olimpia Stacchi and Giulio Stacchi of the Architects at Work studio, a particular sensitivity is evident that links the contemporaneity of the interventions to the historicity of the places, enveloping the visitor in an atmosphere of unique charm. The apartment, whose rooms all enjoy a bright south exposure, is accessed through the living room equipped with kitchen, dining table, large sofa with an extra bed and two balconies. The two double bedrooms, with direct access to the living room, are both equipped with private bathroom and balcony or window. The city center, the historic center and the nearby Via Roma and Corso Vittorio Emanuele are the hub of Salerno nightlife with their bars, shops and restaurants and historical-cultural life thanks to the many places of interest and museums that can be visited. From the Trotula Charming House you can easily reach the Amalfi Coast thanks to the continuous connections with buses and ferries. The apartment located within the Limited Traffic Zone of the historic center is located in a building of historical-artistic prestige and is at the complete disposal of guests. The building is not equipped with an elevator. Trotula Charming House is easily accessible from the nearby Cathedral of Salerno through a characteristic 300mt pedestrian alley and is located on the second floor (34 steps). For those who prefer a relaxing and leisure holiday, after sunset the old town is transformed with its countless bars, cafes and restaurants where you can spend the evening pleasantly from aperitif to after dinner. The area is also known for shopping and fantastic boutiques to be found among the alleys and main arteries. Salerno is located in the homonymous Gulf from which the Amalfi Coast begins, which is well connected through the frequent runs of local buses and ferries. Thanks to the nearby bus stop, Vietri sul Mare (2km), Cetara (7km), Ravello (25km), Amalfi (22km) and other coastal destinations, are easily accessible. During the summer season Positano, Amalfi, Capri, Cetara, Minori and Maiori can also be reached by hydrofoils and ferries departing from the Port of Salerno. From Amalfi you can take advantage of additional connections to the island of Capri and Sorrento. The proximity to Naples (55km) and the Archaeological Excavations of Pompeii (30km), Herculaneum (42km) and Paestum (45km) make Salerno an excellent base to allow you to easily visit the entire region. Located in the private complex " Madonna Arch Park ", accessible by car from the 163 Amalfi Highway ( SS 163 ) after 1,5 km from Vietri sul Mare or by walking 40 steps from Marina di Vietri. BY CAR: from Vietri sul Mare, follow the signs to the "Amalfi Coast" and take the State Road 163 Amalfi (SS163) for about 1.5 km; on the left, the sea side, (after the Restaurant "La Voce del Mare", at the Restaurant Wine Bar "Fish" and the road mirror), take the dead end road Madonna dell'Arco till the end where there is the white gate access to"Madonna dell'Arco Park." Enter, go up on the left until the house D and park your car under covered porch, No 1 reserved. Note: The "Madonna dell'Arco" street is narrow, two-way, typical Amalfi Coast road, therefore, please notify if you have very large cars or difficulty driving uphill and/or downhill. You could alternatively park in Marina di Vietri and going home by walking through the up/down steps. In the latter case, prior agreements, I would bring you home by car to load/unload luggages. ON FOOT: from Vietri sul Mare, cross Matteotti Square and go down to Marina di Vietri following the downhill road in direction "Beaches/Stadium/Carabinieri". Right at the end of the steep road (passed the Carabinieri station) you will find a first footbridge right in front of you. Turn left and then right over the second bridge and keep going to the end of the road (on the right looking at the sea - Via Nuova Marina) where you will find a public parking space on payment. (Free public parking is on the downhill road Via Osvaldo Costabile). On the right, opposite the Lido " Il Risorgimento ", there is the staircase to " Madonna dell'Arco Park ", where you will find the white gate to BBHome. BY TRAIN: The nearest railway station is Vietri sul Mare (2.5kms away) served only by local/regional trains. The main Railways Station is Salerno (7 Kms away) served by high speed trains (booking required) as well as IC and regional trains. From Salerno to Vietri by train: Regional trains from Salerno to Vietri take roughly 7 minutes and run hourly (less frequently on Sundays or Holidays). BY BUS: Anyway, from Salerno, we recommend the SITA SUD buses to Amalfi instead (bus stop at Corso G. Garibaldi crossing via Barretta). Tickets can be purchased on the station concourse or the tobacconist shop at the corner of the station square. The buses run hourly and take around 20-25 minutes depending on traffic. Please, ask the driver to stop at "Voce del Mare-Fish" stop (requested stop). Via Madonna dell'Arco is literally across the road from the stop. Walk down for roughly 500mt (after the church) and stop at the white gate for BBHome. From Vietri sul Mare Railways Station: walk down to the main square (Piazza Matteotti) and take the SITA SUD bus to Amalfi. Tickets must be purchased before boarding at the newsagent shop on Vietri's main street or at the ceramic shop D'Amico on Piazza Matteotti. The ride will take only a few minutes (1.5kms). Please ask the driver to stop at "Voce del Mare-Fish" stop (request stop). BY PLANE: The nearest airport is Naples. From there you can take the shuttle bus (called Alibus) to the main railway station (Napoli Centrale). Tickets can be purchased on the bus. From Naples station trains run frequently to Salerno. From Salerno Railways Station take the SITA SUD buses to Amalfi (as before). BY TAXI: taxis can be found outside Salerno Railways Station (about 20 euro one way). Please, note that there are no taxis outside Vietri Railways Station. TRANSFERS: From Naples Capodichino Airport you can arrange a private transfer ( extra service ). Rent a small car to drive easy. Take a METRO (5 minutes far) to go easy and fast to SORRENTO. Go to the Seiano's marina to enjoy one of the best italian restaurant: "La Torre del Saracino" or just to have a glass by the sea. Our apartment is your apartment: you can use everything to feel confortable in the best way. If you smoke please do it outside on the terrace. You can ask input to me: I'll be more then happy to share informations about authentic experiences in the surroundings. From April the 1st until October the 31st each guest is required to pay the tourist tax: it's €1,50 person/day for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights. The amount is paid with cash at the check-in.
