We had a wonderful time The house is beautiful and equipped with everything you need. It was wonderful to enjoy nature from the terrace, the view was phenomenal. It is true that you need a 4x4 to get there, but that also ensures that once you have arrived you can enjoy absolute privacy and tranquility!

Costa Rica is more than just beaches & surfing. Ruben’s mountain cabin has beautiful views, a private “eco-spa” in the stream, and a swimming hole nearby, fruit trees, and birds of all kinds including Toucans. It’s a short walk to the market and bus stops, a 15 min trip to San Isidro by car or taxi, and a half-hour to Dominical. Days are hot and it gets cool at night, and it is always quiet, just the sounds of nature - reminds me of being at a cottage in Canada in summer.

This place! Oh my goodness. Mountain paradise. Toucans and monkeys and butterflies and flowers…nature everywhere. Didn’t miss the air conditioning, house is well ventilated and actually found the transition from outside to inside so much better without the jarring cold. Slept so well. Our 8 year old was so stoked on the pool and bunk beds. It was a dream. It’s the kind of place you should stay more than 2 days…would have spent our entire vacay here had we known. The beaches the restaurants the wellness offerings the community…so wonderful, top notch. Will return asap.

Amazing house, pool, and location - close to everything in Uvita, yet secluded. The pictures of the view from the deck and pool don't do it justice. The house was very clean, and the hosts were easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend this home to others.

I booked this listing for a group of 8 women. We all needed time to get away from our busy lives in the U.S. The six nights at La Sombra were peaceful and inspiring! What a beautiful location and beautiful grounds. We were all stunned by the property, in a good way:) It was even better than the beautiful pictures provided. Each villa was appointed beautifully with quality linens, towels, robes, bath soaps, dishes, etc. We especially enjoyed the patio views and the design of the structures that incorporate natural light and the surrounding nature. We ate dinner each night on the patio of the main house, and found a spot for morning meditations on the bridge. Catherine and Ryan were available and responsive before, during and after our visit. And, I cannot say enough about the local cook, Marta. We all wanted to take her home with us! What a treat:) Thank you for sharing your home with us, Catherine and Ryan!

I really liked the place, as the sound of the river conveys a lot of tranquility and we loved the tub. It is a very quiet place and we were very happy to see peacocks. 10/10🙌🏼

Our stay at Christa's guest house was simply wonderful! Christa was responsive and always very helpful. The house itself was as described: clean, well-appointed, everything we needed. The photos are spot-on. Definitely worth mentioning, the beds are super comfortable! The multi-acre property is just beautiful. It's incredibly private, boasting all sorts of fruit trees, a variety of birds, and visiting wildlife. Yet, despite feeling very private, you're only minutes from the charming mountain community of Tinamastes and its iconic farmer's market (the "feria"). And if you need to do some more serious shopping, the city of San Isidro is just 20 minutes away. Finally, and without a doubt, one of the highlights of Christa's property is the spectacular, 180-degree mountain view. The photos just don't do it justice! Plus, when the clouds roll in during the late afternoon, it feels like you could literally reach out and touch them. I'm already planning my next visit – it was that good!

Adriana was extremely helpful! From assisting with reservations to putting us in touch with local vendors - everything was perfect! The home is absolutely beautiful and very well kept. It was exactly as described. Adriana and her team was very proactive and responsive, regardless of the time. Would absolutely recommend staying in this home - already can’t wait to come back. For those not familiar with Costa Rica during the raining months, it is not unusual for the power to go out. This happened during our stay but Adriana and team were very attentive and despite being out of their control, made us as comfortable as possible.
