In 2024, this estate was transferred from a centuries-old family tradition to the Drenths landscape. Partly to preserve the estate, it was decided to partially convert it into an attractive B&B. Sleeping with the sheep & a whole herd of horses.

Waking up overlooking the dining room of a herd of horses living in freedom, 2 pigs making their bed every night in front of the window and sometimes a sheep walks by. (Safe for kids) The wood fired hot tub can be booked for €90,- for a weekend and €120 for a (mid)week This is spacious for 2 adults (2 kids can join) The sauna is included for free. Inside is a nice sitting corner, stunning views and a cozy dining room with comfortable chairs. The cottage is next to the nature campsite (only open in summer)

"Come and relax in our cottage 'Welgelegen', on the edge of the forest. You can enjoy and relax here. You can also enjoy hiking and nature here. Within 10 minutes, you can be in Dokkum, and within half an hour, you can be in Leeuwarden or Drachten. You can park for free at the forest, right next to the cottage. All basic facilities are available, and this allows you to fully relax and enjoy your stay in Rinsumageast!"
