Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Dornoch Firth

One of my favorite AirBnB locations we’ve ever stayed in! The natural light and back windows looking out to the Cairngorms were stunning. Not only is this home beautifully designed, but it has everything you need and is just minutes away from walking and biking trails. We found it to be the perfect location to have as a home base for taking day trips throughout the Highlands.

Erg fijne locatie! Rijdt ook prima aan omdat het direct langs de weg ligt (geen drukke weg) en parkeren naast het huisje. Heerlijke douche, goede waterdruk en het bed sliep fantastisch. Het enige dat wij miste in het huisje is een tafeltje om aan te zitten, dat was wel wenselijk geweest, maar goed dat stond ook niet op de foto’s. Het dorp Dornoch is verder eenvoudig maar heeft z’n charme. Verder meer dan genoeg om jezelf in ieder geval een dagje te vermaken, leuke looproute langs de kust/golfbaan, mooie kerk en paar leuke tentjes (oa Surf&Turf).

Lovely place to stay with spectacular views! Tranquil surroundings and beautifully decorated come. Would highly recommend, all the amenities nearby in Lairg.

Katie’s charming home near the red castle ruins was an absolute dream! From the moment we arrived, we felt wrapped in peace and magic. The cottage was beautifully kept, fully stocked, and incredibly comfortable—every detail thoughtfully arranged to make us feel at home. The setting is something out of a storybook. Waking up next to the historic ruins and soaking in the beauty of the surroundings was unforgettable. The hot tub was a highlight, especially after a day of travel. Our kids were thrilled with the darts and ping pong, and everyone slept like a dream—so quiet, so cozy. If Scotland weren’t so far away, we’d be back in a heartbeat. This may be the only trip we ever take as a family to Scotland, and we’re beyond grateful that Katie’s magical cottage was part of our journey. Thank you for everything!

Perfect place to stay for a group of six golfers, playing at courses locally. Easy to locate and access, comfortable accommodation and conveniently located. Would book again if we repeated the visit.

Spacious and clean accommodation. We had a very comfortable stay and the children were reluctant to leave. Carolyn was very kind to let us access the children's farm after opening hours.

Sheila’s place is beautiful, clean and very close to all amenities. Sheila was very helpful and took time to show us the house etc. Sheila is always responsive. The house is nice and the decor was amazing. We cannot thank enough to Sheila for making our stay lovely and comfortable.

One of my favorite Airbnb stays! Exactly what I look for when booking for our family. Responsive friendly host and a property that exceeds expectations. Styled beautifully with high end fixtures. Close to all the fantastic golfing in the highlands. Enjoyed Brora and Royal Dornoch. Had a fun spin around the Struie course as well. Enjoyed a stroll around Dunrobin castle and gardens on a sunny morning.

Although a little expensive, the views, and being in an Abbey was an amazing experience. We had plenty of room and the apartment had everything we needed including tea! The canal locks were a thrilling surprise to watch when going for coffee or ice cream. Loch Ness cruise was beautiful. Everything you could need from coffee to restaurants and gift shops to convenience store all walking distance but very quiet complex with a city link bus stop 5-6 minute walk to explore the highlands.

Perfect place and location for my 4 day stay. As a solo visitor I felt completely safe to walk around the area at any time. The cottage is very comfortable. Cheryl and her husband are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Ideal location for me. Good views of the river and the area felt very safe. Good communication from Rebecca. Although small the apartment did not feel cramped and there was plenty of floor space for stretching.

I was staying here whilst working in Inverness. It’s a nice quiet place plenty of parking, clean and nice neighbourhood. Nice little town close enough to Inverness. It has everything you need. Taste buds is a good sandwich shop down the road it has fresh Turkish bread sent up from Glasgow each day worth a visit. A good Chinese/thai takeaway in the high street is worth a visit too. The Co op on the high street is a 30 second walk as is the gym/swimming pool which you can pay to use.

Mi familia y yo disfrutamos de las estancia en la casa. Todo lo necesario para pasar nuestros 3 días en un enclave maravilloso. Incluso Elisabeth dejo cosas para desayunar en caso de que no pudiésemos comprar de camino a la casa. Está en medio del bosque, así que total tranquildad y unas vistas preciosas. Si vas a visitar Inverness y Skye, está en un lugar estupendo para que ambos lugares sean accesibles y rápidos en coche. Aparcar en la puerta es un plus.

Un espacio muy limpio, acogedor y con detalles de muy buen gusto. Todo fue muy claro en las indicaciones y estuvo atento toda nuestra estancia. Un placer encontrar espacios cuidados y limpios como este.

Cottage très mignon et très facile d’accès depuis le centre ! Elaine a été très réactive et les ustensiles dans la maisons sont très propres et neufs. Nous avons trouvé le lit un peu mou pour nos dos fatigués

Andrew’s place was a perfect base for a few days of hiking. It is a short walk to the train and bus, and there is a small grocery store even closer. The place was clean and had a nice modern kitchen. After our days of walking in the highlands, we appreciated showers or baths with lots of pressure and hot water. The idea of paying for the heat you use makes some sense too.

I stayed at Sandra's place with two friends from Friday to Monday and found it to be extremely pleasant! Good location, only a 15/20 minute walk to Inverness center. The apartment is lovely and we all felt right at home - absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks Sandra! :)

Tanto Linda como George fueron excelentes anfitriones. Amables, bien predispuestos, en fin: excelentes. En cuanto a la propiedad es muy cómoda y agradable que aporta muchísima paz a quienes allí se hospedan. Sin dudas volvería a visitarlos!

Wir waren 3 Nächte dort in der Unterkunft und wir hatten alles was wir brauchten. WLAN, TV, Föhn, Kühlschrank, Geschirr, Toaster, Wasserkocher, jeder 3 Handtücher, es war wirklich alles wunderbar. Im Crofter's haben wir 2 Abende gegessen und es war wirklich sehr gut mit abwechslungsreicher Karte. Parken musste man ca 100 m von der Unterkunft entfernt.

This place was just like the description. The location is very walkable, but out of the busy tourist center so it’s very quiet. Everything I needed was provided, which made the stay very easy. I would stay here again if I visit Inverness again.

L'appartement est vraiment très bien. Très bien situé, avec des restaurants et des commerces (supermarché, papeterie, librairie...) accessibles à pied. A quelques min à pied de la plage, et beaucoup de choses à faire en voiture facilement. Stephen a donné plein de bons conseils très actuels sur ce qu'il faut faire dans le coin. Le logement lui même est très spacieux, et trés agréable en famille !

Wir haben die Tage bei Fiona sehr genossen, die Unterkunft hält alles bereit was man benötigt. Die Lage ist sehr gut geeignet um verschiedene Ausflüge in der Region zu unternehmen.
