Cob Cottage
Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Hidea bed on main level**only suitable for 1 person sleeping on** has a 50 inch TV & Small/Full kitchen & bathroom with shower on the main flr. 5 minutes from the village of Cowichan Bay, with local shops and plenty of choices for dining. We are 15 minutes from the town of Duncan and 35 minutes from Victoria and about 45 minutes from the Nanaimo Duke point ferry.

With your own detached bathroom and kitchen about 30m from the Cedar Hut, this can be your cozy, heated one room glamping experience. A private spot on our little farm. We are settled on 9.5 acres which you are Welcome to roam. Farm dogs Klaus (Bernese/Aussie) and Pinkie (Dachsi) are friendly and keep busy with roaming the property. Our horses are your neighbors and you will most likely find us in the garden. Enjoy the tranquility and privacy of your getaway to relax. Two bicycles provided.

Our renovated (in June 2023) suite is at the end of a no-through road and is only a 5-10 minute walk into the village to a fabulous, organic craft bakery, artisan shops, restaurants, a museum, a pub, a small grocery/liquor store and a popular ice cream/candy store. (Seasonal) kayak/paddle-board rentals & whale watching excursions for hire. Cowichan District Hospital 15 min drive.

Our comfortable one bedroom suite has everything you need to relax, and experience the beauty of vancouver island, with the ocean and a forest hike within walking distance. This is a family friendly space with televisions in the bedroom and living room, board games, bluetooth stereo and a dedicated work station. There are numerous wineries close by, noteably cherry point estates two minutes down the road. The suite does not share any of our spaces and includes dedicated laundry.
