Lake houses in Claytor Lake

We had a lovely experience in our little cottage. Everything was neat and clean. Right after we arrived, a deer walked by. There is a very nice park at the end of the street. Our dogs loved walking and sniffing everywhere. The view of the lake and mountains is peaceful. People fished and picnicked . There is a pier. I saw people boating, and riding on wave runners. Draper Mercantile is nearby. The menu is tasty and there is a variety of coffees, beer and wine available. Right there is an ice cream shop called Conerys. A bike trail is right there by Draper’s.

This place is exactly as pictured, and super clean which is very important to me. Plenty of linens, towels, etc. The New River Trail is literally just across the road from the house and we enjoyed biking every day as well as long walks with our two pups. When we weren't out we lived on the back screened-in porch (with ceiling fans) where we enjoyed the quiet reading or watching people on boats fishing and a few jet skiers. Highly recommend the Merc Cafe in Draper for meals, and the Conery for ice cream. This is the only real restaurant close by, but it is very good. We also grilled out or cooked a couple of times.

Our family stay included 7 people. This spacious 2 story house easily accommodated 4 couples comfortably. The kitchen lacked nothing! There were 2 full size refrigerators and 2 washer/dryers. The game room had 2 pool tables, 2 air hockey tables. ping pong, cornhole plus more! There were 2 video arcade machines with multiple games on them. I haven't played Pacman for years - no quarters needed. I highly recommend this place. One thing to be aware of is the walk down to the firepit includes a steep hill which can be avoided by driving down the boat ramp to get there. There was plenty of seating on the basement level and first floor decks. We didn't have kids - but if so they could have been easily entertained with all the games.

We had a wonderful stay. We loved the pool table and games. We enjoyed the beautiful views of the lake. So much nature surrounding the home. There was also a storm that knocked out power temporarily and the generator did not miss a beat. We were able to cook out on the grill that was provided with plenty of propane. We couldn't ask for a better location to celebrate our son's graduation from VT.

We had a great stay at the lake house. There was a private dock located very close and a swim area just a couple minutes down the road. The house had beautiful views and was well stocked with everything we needed for the week!

We had such a wonderful time! The home was clean and beautiful, plenty to do there at the home and in the surrounding areas. Even with the many homes on the street, it felt private and relaxing the entire weekend. The host, Joe, was also so friendly! He gave us a tour when we got there, was extremely helpful, and he even helped us start our fire in the fire pit when he saw we were struggling. Wonderful place, great hospitality, would absolutely book this place again! Thank you Joe!

Charming and secluded cabin with beautiful views! Was comfortable and cozy. Lindsay was so helpful and responsive. We really enjoyed our weekend stay!

We had a great time. The home is beautiful and the view of the lake is awesome. Luis was very accommodating and communicative with us while we were there. He is a great host and I would highly recommend renting from him!! We had a fun time celebrating our son’s graduation from Virginia Tech!!

For peace and quiet in a beautiful location, this is your spot. Great accommodations within an easy drive of Sparta and West Jefferson for small town attractions with genuinely nice people. Recommend bringing fishing rod for the pond and binoculars for wildlife sightings. Use Google maps instead of Waze for the address for ease of initial arrival. We’ll definitely be repeat guests!

This was a cozy little spot. Terri had everything needed for the stay. The beds were super comfy. It was a great quick getaway. Terri was a great hostess. She was so sweet and very accommodating.

This was the most relaxing, peaceful and carefree weekend we have ever had. My husband and our 2 kids and 2 dogs had the most fun, and we didn’t even feel the need to be on our phones or watch tv! The cabin felt like home; so much so, that we didn’t want to leave. My husband and I are already planning a trip back. Carey was an amazing hostess and we are so appreciative that she opened her home to us. The views were breathtaking. We literally sat outside all weekend. We only went inside to cook and sleep. Oh! And we got to enjoy a meteor shower Saturday night! Super awesome!! And, even cooler, there’s a dollar general market at the end of the main road! Coolest thing I’ve ever seen! So you don’t need to bring a bunch of food! We drove 5 hours to come stay here, and honestly, I would drive 10 just to come back. This cabin was every bit of home and we can’t wait to come back!

The Lover’s Nest is just as described. It was a perfect, peaceful getaway with the outdoor areas only adding to the charm and oasis feel of the place! We will definitely be coming back to the The Lover’s Nest in the future

Beautiful home and setting. The home was comfortable with all the amenities you could hope for. The pond was awesome! We had a wonderful weekend and hope to come back again!

We have been traveling to the area for the past 3 years on Memorial Day weekend to visit the 2 wineries near Meadows of Dan. This has been our favorite place to stay so far - outstanding. The property is accurately described in the listing. Very peaceful, beautiful surroundings on the farm, and easy to get to the wineries. The house has a great layout and the porch swing is so relaxing. These hosts pay attention to details which enhances the overall stay. I would highly recommend.

This retreat is even better than the description and photos. It is extremely private, surrounded by the woods and rolling hills of Floyd county--exactly what we were hoping for! The yurt was beyond our expectations, or even hopes. It's furnished with everything you need for a stay of a weekend or more, and somehow there's still a ton of space. We wanted for literally nothing. We visited the creek twice, and Gabe (our Pyrenees) loved playing in the water and running around the shore. The yurt is very dog friendly, and Gabe loved the duck jerky Jessica had left for us. The weather was a _little_ uncooperative, so we didn't get to enjoy the deck or firepit like we'd hoped in the evening, but the accommodations were so outstanding we barely noticed. I can't recommend high enough--my only reluctance is that more people might discover this gem and we aren't able to find open dates on the calendar to book it again soon!

On our way home from Florida, had never been to Radford area before other than staying on the interstate nearby. The cabin is in a quiet neighborhood close to everything, inside is very large with a second bedroom upstairs, large kitchen and comfortable living room. Very clean and quiet, it's only a half mile or so to several bars and restaurants. The host was terrific, left us check in early, gave us recommendations for restaurants a bargain compared to hotel rooms. We will definitely stay here again.

Quiet home in a peaceful location about 39 minutes from Virginia Tech. The home was clean and had a well appointed kitchen, including a table for six. The home had plenty of parking on the driveway.

We were very happy with this cabin nestled next to a beautiful stream in Southwest Virginia. We were even greeted by five deer our first day. Check in was easy with a keyless front door and directions were clear. The home was comfortable with a large smart TV, a nice king bed (and others we didn’t need) and parking by the front door. The location was convenient…not far from the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as groceries in Hillsville. It was a nice stay that we are happy to recommend.

This cottage is a wonderful find! It is in a beautiful part of VA, with vistas of the mountains. The home itself is just lovely- very new and well furnished with lots of amenities and thoughtful decor. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was difficult to leave!

We were here briefly to check out Virginia Tech with our son, but we will be back to enjoy some recreation next time! The cabin was adorable. I loved the decor. The bathrooms were so nice. Kitchen was well stocked. The proximity to the river is a huge perk and the view is incredible. Host was gracious and informative. Hihky recommend renting this one.

We only had a one night stay at the Moonshiner’s Mansion. We loved everything about the cabin. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Sitting on the back deck listening to the creek flow was very tranquil. We saw quite a bit of wild life, one of the cutest things we saw was watching a rabbit walk across the creek on a log. We will definitely come back for a longer stay.
