Bed and breakfast vacation rentals in Central Otago

Waiorau Homestead was absolutely stunning and exceeded our expectations. Our hostess Ann was extremely attentive and made sure we had every thing on hand to ensure a relaxing and peaceful stay. The most comfortable bed and luxurious down comforters and pillows were 5 star quality. Our room was thoughtfully decorated and felt like we were in a Parisian Hotel. A lovely buffet breakfast greeted us each morning which comprised of seasonal fruits, cereals , eggs on toast and croissants followed by freshly brewed coffee. Thank you so much for having us & making our stay perfect.

Loved staying at Lynne’s place. Such a treasure to meet her and Fred. Loved our accommodation and looking at the other stone cottage. Watches the bees on the lavander plants as we had dinner. Felt so at home and welcomed. Would come again when back in NZ.

We had the most wonderful time at Sally’s and Keri’s place. It is located in beautiful surroundings, lots of nature and places to visit the sea and take a walk. The hot tub should win an award for “most beautiful view from a hot tub”. With unmatched hospitality, great breakfast and the friendliest dog we can not recommend this place enough. Thank you so much for having us!

Absolutely lovely accommodations. Everything was clean and comfortable. I was able to do a load of washing, which was greatly appreciated. Gary was great to talk to and made me feel right at home. Highly recommend.

The view from the room was absolutely breathtaking – I’ll never forget falling asleep under the sparkling Milky Way at night. The house’s location was great , with the bus stop just a short walk away, making it so easy to explore the area. The bed was incredibly comfortable (I slept better here than at home!), and I truly appreciated how safe and peaceful the entire stay felt. Peggy ’ve created such a special retreat, and I’m already dreaming of returning someday.

As anticipated and expected from the photos, Quaint and funky, wonderful place at the end of the road. Margaret was friendly and helpful, she felt like a friend immediately on meeting her. A delightful few days away

The apartment is very beautiful and furnished with a lot of love and taste. Everything is like new and very well maintained. The breakfast was excellent. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Sheryl’s place is an absolute must for visiting New Zealand’s South Island! We stumbled on her place in a last minute booking, avoiding rain, and ended up staying another night because of how lovely our experience was. Sheryl is incredibly welcoming and friendly, and we loved chatting with her. Her house is not only stunning, but steps away from Lake Hawea— a must stay!

Liz's place was so lovely and peaceful! and she is the best host. helped us sort out our dinner plans and left us home made raspberry and yogurt for breakfast, it was out of this world. The house is so charming and cozy, warmed up quickly. Views are beautiful. we loved our stay in Middlemarch, at the end of a long bike ride it was the perfect place to relax!

We absolutely loved our stay, the stars were incredible and rooms comfy and very spacious! Great breakfast too! Would stay again!

Susan and Mike's private spot just out of Clyde was perfect for our short stay. Their guest area is private, homely, and had everything we needed. We appreciated the yummy breakfast, and the friendly chat we had over our morning coffee. Fantastic hosts and a great place to stay. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our stay with Lynley and Glyn. The accommodation was homely, the bed was big and comfy, the hosts very welcoming and extremely interesting and the house is in a beautiful part of the country. And yes, I have changed the way I cook my eggs :) Thanks Lynley.

We had a great stay here. Nadine and Craig are warm, welcoming people. We enjoyed the time we spent with them. The place itself had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the fridge was stocked very well. We’d definitely stay here again.

Phil is a gracious and friendly host who shares his lovely home in a beautiful location. We particularly enjoyed the lovely views of the lake and snow sprinkled mountains in the distance, Phil's local knowledge and recommendations, and the tasty and nutritious breakfast which set us up for nicely for the day's activities. His house is an easy drive from Te Aneu and all of its amenities which for us included a great starting point for our bus tour and Milford Sound boat trip.

Sam and Fred are absolutely amazing hosts! Great communication from the outset and throughout our stay. They have the most beautiful home, making us feel very welcomed and felt privileged to get to know them. We had complimentary snacks and a personalised card on arrival! The breakfast which is included in our stay was unbelievable!! 10/10. It was great getting to know their story and felt like we had known them for years. Our room was super clean and tidy and had quite the luxurious bathroom. Only a stones throw from the lake and tracks, quiet and private. Highly recommend.

Kate, Andrew and family were amazing hosts. The room was beautiful and included touches that made us really feel at home. Stand outs were the wonderfully home made breakfasts that Kate made to dietary restrictions, the brilliant recommendations in their online guidebook, and the fantastic scenery. All in all it was an amazing stay with proactive hosts and we would love to stay again if we are ever back in the area.

Hands-down this was the best AirBnB experience I’ve ever had - and I’ve travelled extensively. AirBnB should do a case study on Fred and Samantha, and the service offering they provide to share a template for what best practise looks like. Great hosts, lovely room, amazing cooked breakfast each morning - prepared with local produce and a scenic location. Could not have asked for more. A fabulous stay!!

Such a lovely place to stay! The room was warm and inviting—just what we needed during the holidays. Our host went above and beyond by making us fresh coffee every morning, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated touch. Everything was clean and super comfortable. We felt really well looked after and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Kristy's AirBnB. The accommodation was perfect—exactly as pictured—and incredibly comfortable. Parking was a breeze, and Kristy was a fantastic host. We truly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be returning in the future.

Wir hatten das Vergnügen, bei Sarah-Jane zu übernachten, und es war einfach perfekt! Sarah-Jane ist eine unglaublich herzliche Gastgeberin, bei der wir uns sofort wie zu Hause fühlten. Die Zimmer sind modern, liebevoll eingerichtet und vor allem blitzsauber – der ideale Ort, um nach einem langen Reisetag zu entspannen und die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Auch das Bad und die Gästetoilette waren in einwandfreiem Zustand. Der Ausblick vom Zimmer war atemberaubend! Ein weiteres Highlight war das Essen, das Sarah-Jane zubereitet hat – nicht nur lecker, sondern wirklich ein kulinarisches Meisterwerk! Wir konnten jede Mahlzeit genießen und fühlten uns rundum verwöhnt. Zudem gab uns Sarah-Jane wertvolle Reisetipps und war stets hilfsbereit. Ein großer Pluspunkt war auch, dass wir alles bequem per Kreditkarte bezahlen konnten, was uns viel Aufwand ersparte. Unser kurzer Aufenthalt bei Sarah-Jane war ein echtes Erlebnis, und wir können diese Unterkunft nur wärmstens empfehlen!
