Farmstay vacation rentals in Central Hawke's Bay District

This ia a unique place with the conversion of a shearer's quarters. The external access to each room was authentic to its past. The location was private in being on a farm up in the hills but still close enough to the coast or towns if desired. Communication was great and Hannah was flexible to our change of numbers and arrival date. Margot greeted us warmly and then left us to ourselves - perfect.

Lovely cottage in a peaceful country setting. It was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The surroundings were quiet and it was nice. The hosts were helpful and easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway.

We had a great stay with our dog. Very peaceful with lots of outdoor seating options. Well equipped kitchen. A real treat to have two ensuites. It’s nice to see that you’ve thought about accessibility needs.

This venue was exactly what we were after. It is rustic, and cozy, and it was what we were expecting. It is dog friendly, which was great because we took our German shepherd. The bathroom is spacious and well set up. We kept our luggage there as well. The kitchenette had everything we needed: jug, microwave, electric frying pan, and outside at the wine bar a weber BBQ and an air fryer. Pete was fantastic and stocked the fridge with bacon, eggs, bread and butter, and a bottle of wine. It was incredibly thoughtful and generous of him, and we were delighted to make bacon and egg butties one cold morning! Pete also left a bag of dog treats which our girl would've devoured except she has a tightly controlled diet due to allergies. Again though, so incredibly thoughtful! Pete had also set up the brazier ready for a fire, with plenty of wood. We had two lovely evenings outside by the fire! Pete is a kind and thoughtful host, and so helpful! Would highly recommend.

Nerida was an amazing host! She was accommodating despite us requesting a slightly later check-in time. She was really responsive and offered us in-depth directions to reach her home. She even offered us a cup of coffee when we arrived and showed us around her farm the next morning. Charming home, and we felt very at home. Thanks, Nerida!

A magical week in this magnificent home! This was the perfect setting for our family holiday - a grand old house that has been lovingly restored, five bedrooms with three of them offering access to a stunning first-floor balcony with sunset views, plenty of spaces to escape including a library and a billiards room, and lush, well-maintained gardens hosting a salt-water pool, a jacuzzi, and lots of outdoor areas to relax and dine. We didn’t have the best weather during our stay, but it didn’t even matter as the house is just so beautiful and there was so much to do and explore. Pip and Mathias were absolutely phenomenal hosts, leaving some lovely wine and food gifts to welcome us and throughout our stay. They even hosted us for our final dinner in their amazing cave hidden in the hills behind the house. Would highly recommend this property for families and groups, and it will definitely be our first choice next time we’re in Hawke’s Bay. Thank you for the most memorable week!

Meet the Indiana Jones of Ashley Clinton! Such a lovely weekend spent over Easter. Greeted by wonderful hosts and their pet dog Xena. Welcomed with hot cross buns and Easter eggs. Freshly baked loafs in the morning were a delight. Museum and the korero by Lex was an amazing experience, and a highlight to the stay. It’s truly more than what one can bargain for. We were really impressed with their collection of taxidermy and weaponry over different centuries. I’m sure if we had more time with the hosts, we would be thrilled to just sit down next to a fire and listen to all their adventures.

A wonderful house that was perfect for our 2 families staying in the area for the Hawkes Bay cricket tournament; we could not have found a better place. Catherine was the perfect host - responsive when we needed her, really helpful with requests, and just generally lovely to deal with. We didn't want to leave and we would love to come back.
