Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Casco Bay

Stayed at Bethany's place for a long weekend at the end of the season. The location is unbeatable, the house is situated on its own little peninsula in a stunning cove; it feels very private and has amazing views of the water. There's tons of outdoor space and seating, along with several kayaks. The house itself is clean, quiet, and peaceful, although it's definitely small--probably best for one or two people, or a couple with a small child. Access is down an unpaved road but Bethany's very clear instructions made it easy to find, and she was responsive to any questions we had. Harpswell abounds with areas to hike and explore, lots of good places to eat (though you will definitely need a car) and is less than an hour from Portland and only half an hour from Freeport.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful beachfront home with our extended family, including a total of 6 adults and 5 kids. We had two additional adults spend one night, there was plenty of room for everyone. The house was spacious, comfortable, and perfectly suited for a group of our size. The location is unbeatable, right on Drakes Island Beach, with incredible views and direct access to the sand. While we didn’t go in the water, we spent plenty of time relaxing on the beach, walking along the shore, and enjoying the peaceful setting. The home was clean, well-maintained, and stocked with everything we needed. The large deck and open living spaces gave us plenty of room to spend time together and unwind. This was a perfect spot for a relaxing family getaway, and we’d absolutely return again. Highly recommended!

Jeffrey’s guest house is super special, it was amazing to be able to look out every window to experience coastal Maine and so serene and peaceful. Located on a beautiful property right on the bay in a wooded setting. Very private and quiet. We absolutely loved our stay - in fact we extended it another 3 days to be able to enjoy it longer. Jeffrey was very accommodating and even credited us for the 2nd cleaning fee charged by Airbnb because we needed to change our payment method for the extended stay. I can’t say enough about the comfy bed!! I felt like I was sleeping in a cloud with super soft sheets and perfect mattress. I wish all Airbnb hosts were as thoughtful about the personal touches as Jeffrey. I had to work a bit during the trip and the internet was very stable and easy to connect to. It was a perfect retreat for us. Highly recommend staying here! We will. Definitely will Return!

We loved our time staying here, the house was beautiful and just as described/ seen in the pictures. Randy was a great host and always very responsive with some great local recommendations. Would definitely love to return!

Marcia’s Airbnb felt just like home! It had a lot of amenities that aren’t usually included in an Airbnb like a washer, dryer, and many kitchen utensils/seasonings. I felt at home in this Airbnb and would definitely stay here again!

If you’re looking for a place in Freeport, look no further! I cannot say enough nice things about this experience. 1. The location is literally just minutes from the outlets, restaurants, etc…BUT away from the main road so you feel a neighborhood vibe vs the down town vibe which is SO relaxing. 2. The home was immaculate. Sheets, dishes, floors, bathrooms…you name it, it was clean! We felt so comfortable letting our children play and be kids. 3. The hosts were incredibly responsive, even in the middle of the night! You can just tell they’re good people◡̈ 4. Everything was thought of, from baby shampoo, to paper towels, trash bags, kids books, even ice in the ice trays! Everything we didn’t know we needed was provided. 5. The furniture was super comfortable. Every person that stayed said their bed was amazing, even the couches felt like you could just melt into. I could keep going, but bottom line, this whole experience was 10 stars and I’d book again in a heartbeat. ♡︎

We came to Portland to stay for the week, this Airbnb was perfect! Great location! Loved all the amenities! And the place itself was soo cute! We took full use of the hot tub! And also the grill, it was great and easy to use! The bedrooms and space for our dog was amazing! Our pup loved his stay too! (The neighbors dogs are very annoying and barked everytime we were out- but nothing the host has control over!!) The host was so responsive, when we got there I accidentally mistaken the heater for the AC! She got back to me in seconds on what’s what! Was never bothered, and check in and check out was seamless! Thank you for an amazing stay and hospitality for our first trip to Maine! 10/10 recommend! I would definitely come back!

Anna and Ryan’s Scandi House is a perfectly situated and beautifully, cleanly designed and furnished house (and guesthouse) that was a soothing and restorative getaway from my home in hectic New York City and a refreshing alternative to Portland where my son lives and which I have visited repeatedly over the last 12 years or so. Surrounded by water and the sky, so peaceful, and close to hiking trails and very good restaurants and grocery stores (I love to cook), I look forward to returning to Scandi House in the years to come.

We absolutely loved our stay. This was our first time in Portland and coming back to this unit after a full day of activities felt like we were right at home. Lucie has truly made this unit so warm and inviting with great attention to detail. The location itself is also great, not too far from the city to drive but not too close either. Thanks again!

Robert’s place was the perfect getaway for me calm, quiet, and peaceful. Everything was perfect, the space was cozy and neat, it had everything I needed for a few days away. Quick drive to the harbor with lots to do if one chooses. Hoping to make it back there soon.

We had a great stay. The location is quiet but just a few minutes away from amazing restaurants, cafes, and breweries. Highlights: The bed was super comfortable. The sauna was great on a rainy day. The walkability to the Back Bay trail was appreciated.

Alex’s place is even better than the listing. It is exactly what you would want as a home away from home. Her place is very well kept, well lit and very homey and comfortable. Beyond that it’s in an incredible walking location to some of the best food, cutest shops and neighborhoods I’ve had and seen in a while. I’ll definitely be back.

A lovely place to stay in Portland’s East End. Great location in a very quiet and walkable neighborhood. (I happily did not need a car during my visit.) The apartment is great, with a comfy bed, smart TV and a nice little patio too. And you’re just steps from the Eastern Promenade park, which is one of Portland’s best amenities imo and leads to a beach, waterfront trail, dock w/ kayak rentals, etc. Jennifer was a very kind host; thank you!

Seth was the best host I’ve had. He was super helpful and understanding of my situation. Location was great around 23 mins from Portland. Place was a great price since staying in Portland was pricey and parking would be a nightmare. Thank you Seth for an easy stay.

Very nice apartment behind private home with beautiful peaceful garden in quiet neighborhood. Easy street parking. Rooms nice and clean and neat! Nice coffee/tea nook with Keurig, pods, tea bags, water kettle and small frig with coffee cream! Perfect for me and purpose of my visit!

Wonderful little spot very close to the beach. Plenty of places to walk to from the location as well as a short drive to Old Orchard Beach. Would come back in a heartbeat!

The condo was perfect! Very clean, neat, cute decor. I loved the box of dog supplies that the host left. The condo was also in a GREAT area, walkable to bars, restaurants, coffee shops, stores. The host, Jason was friendly and accommodating. I will definitely return to Portland and stay in this condo again.

This cute little cottage was perfect for my stay in Old Orchard Beach. My stay was in cold January but the cottage was warm and cozy. The highlight was being steps from the beach and being able to roll out of bed and catch the sunrise each morning.

Extremely clean and great location. It is located on second floor. If you have trouble with stairs, there is no elevator. Host provided clear instructions on check in and check out. She doesn’t require us to take out the garbage! !! She quickly responded to our questions and provided a great tourist book. Shower is amazing…I won’t spoil the surprise so book if you can!

Amazing apartment at a great location! Lots of character and the newly renovated kitchen was a plus. Very quiet neighborhood that allowed us to relax. We spent a long weekend in Portland at Weston’s penthouse. The apartment was excellent. Location was amazing - you can walk to everything in Portland. Apartment was comfortable and spotless. We were a little worried about the water pressure comments- but we found the water pressure- fine- average flow- not sure if changes had been made but this was not an issue at all. Weston allowed us to drop our luggage off early due to our early flight which also worked out great. I would definitely recommend this location for a stay in Portland
