“Me and my boyfriend stayed at Bruce’s place for the weekend to escape the Phoenix heat and celebrate my birthday. They were out of town as well so unfortunately we didn’t get to meet them, but the place was comfy had beautiful views! It was also very peaceful and quiet. We found some really cool antique shops close by (right off the exit for Mcguireville) and drove to Cornville and Cottonwood a few times which were both only 20-30 minutes away. (Highly recommend ‘Up The Creek’ in Cornville for dinner and wine!) I would recommend this place if you are looking for something simple, serene, and affordable. We also enjoyed walking around the neighborhood to get a little exercise and cardio since we didn’t hike on this trip.”
The house has a Mexican feel in the decor. The outdoor kitchen/bar also feels like a Mexican cantina with BBQ, small fridge, wet bar and seating. The house is fully furnished with a full kitchen including, gas cooktop, dishwasher, garbage disposal, coffee maker, blender for your smoothies, full fridge, garden window, wifi, TV. There are two patios. One larger in front and one smaller one off the bedroom. None of the spaces are shared, they are for you only.
“Our stay at Dixie's guesthouse was lovely. The property is gorgeous, there is a lot of space to roam. I spent time sitting on some chaise chairs out under the trees, watching birds. We ate and played board games in the gazebo/outdoor kitchen area. There are lights and a ceiling fan out there so you can enjoy it when it is a little hot and also at night. The huge yard is good for folks with a dog. The air conditioning works really well, keeps the guesthouse very cool and comfortable. Ample parking, easy check in procedures. You can make your own path and walk down to the river from the property, it is all natural and very pretty. The yard has large pecan and cottonwood trees which keep it in shade most of the day. Even in hot weather (around 100 degrees) we were able to enjoy the yard for a lot of the day, all but the hottest afternoon hours. Dixie provides a lot of little extras; there were binoculars and a bird book, bug spray, and other things we hadn't remembered to bring. We prepared all meals in the kitchen since we are limiting exposure due to covid 19, and found we had what we needed. In regards to C19, we were also able to check in without contact and everything was very clean. Dixie is a very friendly and nice host, and Olive, the house dog, is about the cutest. We saw beautiful birds (summer tanager, robins, a bald eagle, goldfinches, black phoebes, etc) frogs, dragonflies, butterflies and more. Would stay again.”
Located in a very nice community split between farm lands and custom homes. We are surrounded by pastures of horses and cows where coyotes and deer also roam freely. You can even hear the occasional Peacock! The White Hills are a short walk to the north where there are abundant hiking trails.
“Just arrived home from a few days at Sandi's place and wow, it was amazing! The property was GORGEOUS. There is no beating the sunset views from the back patio on the house. The photos on the website do not do this place justice, it was incredible. Super clean and had everything we needed. We LOVED that the entire property was completely fenced in and our kids could run the huge yard without worry of them getting out anywhere. The perfect quiet retreat. We will be back for sure. Thank you Sandi for an amazing stay!”
