Today yurts are built on a platform & consist of two thick layers of canvas with a layer of insulation in between, and most notably a domed skylight at their center. 5 mins to Alpine, 30 mins to Fort Davis, Marfa, and Marathon. Welcome to my earth bag home located 25 minutes outside of the entrance to Big Bend National Park. The house sits on 100 acres with 360 degree views of mountains, mesas, pinnacles, spires, and buttes. There are walking trails throughout the property. Good luck finding another home with a as much love put into it! If the Earthbag home is booked I have a home called “Rammed Earth” over the hill that is a work of art. For some reason with online algorithms this home is not showing up as often.

This structure is part of an overall experimental building project we have had going for 15 years. There are other structures on the property made from recycled materials including 'papercrete.' Free dust: it is the desert. You should not expect the Ritz Carlton, but if you have some flexibility and half a 'hippie bone' left in your body, this might be the place for you to expand. Come see us, share some travel stories and relax under and amazing milky way. No TV's in the room.

Blue-Green Sears Kit House

Our lovely, blue-green house was built from a Sears kit in the 1920s. It has been extensively remodeled in the last few years and is a wonderful, comfortable place to stay during your visit to the Big Bend area. My wife and I actually stayed in this house years ago, on one of our first trips to Big Bend, and fell in love with it. We had the opportunity to come out to the region for work and knew we wanted to make this house our home.
