Xairu is absolutely stunning. The home is immaculate, and the view and scenery is amazing. Lots of wonderful birdlife too. Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away. Thank you!

This place is made to calm down and relax. It‘s far out the city and around 1km from the host‘s farm. There is no electricity in the house but candles and lamps… and a very nice hot tube. Heleen, our super friendly host, prepared hot water when we arrived, gave us a lot of useful recommendations around this place and was helpful for everything we needed. There‘s almost no light pollution allowing a nice and clear sky full of stars! We would highly recommend this place and definitely come again! Thanks a lot!

What an absolutely amazing place, so peaceful and really beautiful surroundings, close to activities in Swellendam but away from the crowds. The perfect getaway with family. Lena was an absolute star.

We were enraptured with Michelle's gorgeous cottage. It is beautifully appointed with everything you could possibly need and many wonderful artistic touches, which make it so unique. The bed was so spacious and comfortable The cottage is set in exquisite gardens with stunning scenic views from the front stoep and gave us total privacy. An extra private garden area at the back was a bonus. The leafy village was in a beautiful setting and felt safe and friendly to walk around. We were invited to their New Years eve street party. The highlight of our stay was meeting Michelle, who was warm and welcoming and who went above and beyond to make our stay delightful. All communication with Michelle was easy and helpful. (Even when we had to trouble her re an item we left behind Michelle went out of her way to help resolve this) She booked us in at her nearby restaurant 'Mud modern' for New Years eve, where we were looked after from start to finish. The food was excellent. Thanks again.

Had a wonderful stay! Was very peaceful and we could totally relax. Eveything was clean and we really appreciated the extra touches such as complimentary champagne! The kol-kol was the highlight!

A really comfy spot, i'd recommend for a small family or romantic getaway for 2. Great access to the Cogmanskloof trails for all levels of hikers/runners

This is the perfect family unit, ground floor, has an assortment of animals to view and interact with. The unit has a large enclosed child friendly garden to explore. Being able to view giraffe, horses, springbok and more from the safe of the garden was amazing. BONUS you can go for beautiful safe walks around the farm, past duck ponds and the amazing assortment of animals. Our host Sonja was an absolute GEM of a person and we will definitely be returning.

We really had a relaxing and comfortable stay on the farm. We experienced all sorts of weather from really hot days to stormy chilly nights but through it all we were comfortable at the cottage. We walked the farm roads flat, inspected interesting fynbos, and really just soaked in the views. Sunrises and sunsets were something to write home about, so spectacular. Montague is a short drive away and Barrydale not to far either. Danielle and fam were very welcoming and accommodating making sure we had everything we needed. I definitely recommend this cottage.

Had a great stay at A Hilltop Country Retreat. The place was super equipped to feed yourself. There are two pools and each small bungalow has its own beautiful terrace with braai.

Danielle was an incredible host. Her place is beautiful and secluded, you really feel like you’re out of the city. The mountain views are breathtaking and there’s so much walking you can do. Danielle was quick to respond and very accommodating even when we had a bit of loadshedding. She’s incredible and I recommend this place. It’s clean, it’s homey. It’s beautiful and the kitchen is stocked with most things you would need.

I would highly recommend for any single person or couple visiting Swellendam. Even though you are in town you look out across the river and big trees which creates the sense of being on a farm. Bed was very comfortable and flexible check-in.

We had a really great stay, it is a beautiful location with easy access to Montague and Barrydale. Danielle gave us some really great suggestions for things to do in the area. The farm has some nice walks, and the roads are well kept, very accessible for cars, no 4x4 needed. The farm has some very friendly dogs as well. They were kind enough to provide us with wood and a well equipped kitchenette. I highly recommend it.

My hubby had a very comfortable stay in Sanita’s place. He said it was perfect for his race weekend

The Hacienda is the perfect place to unwind, braai and gaze at an incredible views for a few days. We got unlucky with the weather as it rained for half our time there, so if you are visiting in winter definitely take food that doesn’t need to be bbq’d or cooked in an oven and some games - definitely somewhere I would want to come back to in the summer! Very beautiful location. Perfect for relaxing, hiking, walking, cycling and braaing. We highly recommend Sam’s Place to anyone looking to spend time participating in the above.

We stayed one night and really wish we were staying longer! The house is amazing, the grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed exploring the eating and drinking options in the village. Joe and Esther are friendly and provided great suggestions. We enjoyed our stay and if we come back to South Africa in the future this is on our list to return! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Beautiful surroundings, spacious villa Well equip kitchen with everything needed. Beds are comfortable, with fresh clean linen. Would like to stay at the other kleine windpompie accommodation. Peaceful with a stunning view. Recommended for big families.

It was an incredible break. Our dogs and kids loved the freedom of the lawn. The view is so great that you find yourself constantly looking at the mountain. Roger and Panda (the staff) were very helpful and friendly. We also enjoyed the walk up the mountain. Truly a very special place, worth the visit and definitely a place to go back to one day.
