Vacation rentals with a kayak in Ashland County

Great house with plenty of space and everything exactly as described in the listing. Great hostess, who responded to everything almost immediately. Suited our needs very well for a father-son ski trip!

Homeowner was very responsive. Location was perfect as a base for travels. Did a little fishing and kayaking. Great deck overlooking the lake.

Cannot say enough about the beauty of this space. Location is close to so many things to do: both inside & out; on the water & on land; for a variety of ages. You could stay here & enjoy the space for a week or get out & explore. House was easily shared by my parents & I, & one brother stayed for a night. Nice layout to house & yard. Simply beautiful relaxing views & comfy furniture. Helpful hosts. Beautiful screened-in porch, back deck, & also coffee on the beach. We kayaked, hiked to waterfalls, went to a show at the Big Top Chautauqua, took a Grand Tour of the Apostle Islands, walked on the ferry to see Madeline Island’s museum & met the new director who shared info about the exhibit Passages (not to be missed!), met old friends, & visited a few restaurants. Washburn’s bookstore! Fall migration has started & birds are passing along the beach. In addition to exploring Washburn, Bayfield, & Cornucopia, we drove to Duluth to visit Glensheen, Fitgar’s, & Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory.

This was our second stay at this property. We loved it just as much this time as we did the first time. The home is beautiful and the property is peaceful and serene. Makala was prompt and responsive to any questions I directed to her. Our stay went off without a hitch and my family made some wonderful memories. Thanks to Rich and Makala, our time at their property was amazing! We will return.

We've stayed at numerous places in the Hurley/Mercer area as we go up there every Memorial weekend to go riding, and the Tahoe Getaway was easily the nicest and most accurately described. We always run into issues with parking, since our group has multiple large trailers, and John was the first to accurately describe the available parking and be honest about how much parking was available (there's tons!). The cabin is beautiful and very well done. We've been to a few places where the pictures look great but were sorely disappointed when we arrived, but that wasn't the case with this place. The only (minor) "negative" is that it's a bit of a drive to get from the cabin to the main trail system. There's a large trail that heads north/south along 51 that is the primary artery to get to other trails and it gets tedious traveling it repeatedly over the course of a few days when trying to get to the northern system, but definitely not a deal breaker and we all felt the cabin was worth it.

My father and son stayed here on a 4 day fishing trip. Although it was more than i wanted to pay i have no complaints. Lake access was great! The house was very clean and had all the amenities that were needed. The driveway was a bit tricky but other than that it was a great stay!

Our stay at Sarah’s cabin was very nice. Everything was clean and well kept. Beautiful view to the lake! The fire place was amazing on the windy and cold rainy weekend. Would recommend staying here and hosts were very accommodating to our stay!

This home’s location could not be better—it is nestled in the trees right on the lake and just steps aways from the ski hill allowing you to ski in and ski out! It was down a winding and hilly road that was easy to find with Marks instructions; I was grateful for the all wheel drive on our vehicle to get us there :) The house itself is also very impressive—it was beautiful, well constructed, clean and well stocked. Mark and his brother were super responsive and very friendly. We had a great stay!

The cabin was a great spot on Echo Lake, we enjoyed nightly fires by the fire pit. The cabin was close to town and shopping. Restaurants were easily accessible and delivered to the cabin. It was nice to have paddle boards and kayaks available for our kids. The dock was nice and we caught sunnies and perch off the dock. Chris and Janice were extremely helpful and responsive. Great hosts!

Usually you get to a place and it’s not quite what the pictures show but this was just the opposite… it was better! It was so cozy and peaceful, and the amenities were OUTSTANDING! We loved the nice touches, like the wonderful decor and how there were towels on our beds, fans in every room, and books and games laid out for every area. We will be coming back!

Our stay was excellent. The Wi-Fi wasn't working but Aron communicated that prior to our arrival and it didn't impact our stay. The area is a spectacular place to spend your time. The kitchen is a bit small but had pretty much everything we needed. I would highly recommend and would stay there again.

Loved the serenity of the place. Had deer walking through the yard every morning! We had 8 guests and the place facilitated our NYE group very well. Ample sleeping arrangements, lots of games and a game room. Great Place!

Wonderful place to stay, with beautiful surroundings. The townspeople were amazing and friendly. Overall, everything was fantastic.

Beautiful cabin with easy access to snowmobile trail! We also loved that it was so close to Lazy Ace Saloon, which is a favorite when in the area. Hosts were great with communication. I would recommend if staying in the cold months to have heat turned up well before checkin as the heat takes a while to warm up the entire cabin. The beds were sooooo comfortable & all the hooks were very convenient for hanging sled gear. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again! Thanks so much!!

Had a great stay! Would come back! My 4 year old son loved fishing off the dock every cast caught a fish. We had a good time.

Our stay at the Lakefront Mercer Cabin was exceptional. The cabin was comfortable and clean, and its location was great. Our group appreciated the updates to the bathrooms, kitchen, and living area and the vinyl collection is legit. We used this as a basecamp to do some cross country skiing and snow biking in the area and found it to be an ideal launching spot. The lake is quiet and beautiful; abounding with wildlife. We'd love to come back in the summer to do some kayaking. The guest contact, Dave was proactive, responsive, and friendly. We would definitely recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a comfortable space with history and charm; all with the comforts of home.
