Quiet Twin room

Staying with Alison and David was a delight from beginning to end. We were very well taken care of in every way, from the wonderful fruit salads for breakfast to lovely evenings on the terrace with a stunning view of the sun setting over Victoria Lake. As birders we were also thrilled by the wealth of birds in their garden, or easily seen from it, getting some seventy species during our stay - a perfect introduction for us to African birds before going on a round-trip. David also arranged a great trip to Mabamba swamp for us, dropping us off and picking us up from the boat taking us to the swamp, where we then switched to a smaller canoe for navigating the swamp. Overall, Alison and David are the friendliest people imaginable, always going the extra mile for their guests. We couldn't recommend them more - this is the perfect place to stay in Entebbe, excellent value for money.

Papaya Holiday Home Award winning B and B

PedroRating, 5 stars120 months ago
I stayed at Papaya Home for a weekend. Florence is an extraordinary host, always helpful and kind, having provided very useful tips and contacts. Florence's is at a safe and calm neighborhood (except for a mosque nearby and its inopportune call to prayer at 5.30 in the morning). Rooms are spacious and comfortable, private bathrooms are clean, as well as the common spaces. Florence cooks terrifically. There is a pleasant balcony on the first floor and a porch for sitting and relax. Certainly not a 5 star hotel, but much better than most hostels and guest houses in Europe. Cozy and familiar environment. Fantastic value for money. Highly recommend when visiting Kampala

King Suite With Balcony Acacia Villa Great View

LisaRating, 5 stars36 months ago
The room was a fantastic place for a 10-day stay in Kampala! It was a perfect getaway for my boyfriend and me with a great location that is just 5-10 minutes walk to Acacia Mall (read: Cafesserie, one of the best places for a bite in Kampala). The bed was extremely comfortable, and we loved the beautiful draped mosquito net that was easier to use than a typical one that hangs from a loop near the ceiling. It was extremely clean, and the room was cleaned in the middle of our stay. The closets were more than enough space and included hangers for us to hang our clothes and a lockable drawer for any valuables you may wish to store while out. The mosquito screens covered the windows well and the private balcony had a cute view. The breakfast was always extremely delicious with fruit, a local Ugandan specialty (chapati, hardboiled or scrambled eggs, rolex, or toast; it varied on each day) and tea or coffee. The gates were guarded with 24-hour security so you could come and go with relative ease, although sometimes you have to wait for the main gate a bit longer if the guard is also working in the garden when you are coming over for breakfast. Of note, there are two properties that this (and I believe other listings with this host) manages with several rooms in the villas. The main one has a fully equipped kitchen and hosts the breakfast each morning in the garden and lounge. The alternate one really only has the lockable bedrooms and only a tea kettle in the kitchen, no fridge/ stove/ microwave (at this time; the manager said they are working to equip the facility). This is only a minor inconvenience as you can cross the road anytime to the other house to use the facilities, but it may be worth considering if you wish to stay for a longer period at the house and are placed in the second/ alternate house. If you want to cook, you may want to request being placed in the main house or see that the kitchen has been updated. My advice to people interested in booking the room should contact the host first to be sure they will book the room pictured, as they have multiple listings split across two houses that are just across the street from one another. I am fortunate enough that I am already based in Kampala and wanted a different villa for my boyfriend's visit, so I could stop by and ensure the room I was booking was as pictured. I saw another guest arrived thinking he booked a room similar to the one pictured in this listing, but no rooms were available and he was placed in a room that sounded like it did not meet his expectations. The property is extremely popular for good reason - the location is fantastic, the breakfast is good, and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating - and there's a chance that due to scheduling conflicts, the room you might want is actually not the exact one on the page. It's easy to confirm this in advance if you communicate with the host. TL:DR; I highly recommend the property for short and long stays in Kampala!!! You won't regret it. So many backpackers and other guests said they had returned after already staying there before. I certainly will again as well should I need another property for a short to mid-length stay in Kampala. Thank you again!!!
