Just a 5-minute walk to Wainui Beach, known for its golden sands, surf, and views, and a short 5-minute drive to downtown Gisborne, you’ll have easy access to both nature and the city. We have basic bikes available for you to borrow, ideal for a leisurely ride around the area. Whether you’re here for a beach break, work trip or surf session this is the ideal place to relax.

Beach front bach on Wainui Beach. Fantastic views whatever the weather, stunning surf beach, the bach overlooks it all. Wow factor sun rises, keep the curtains open and have a treat! The cottage has a queen bed in an annex in the main area so you can wake up to the view, or watch the waves at night under the moon. There are bunks in the bedroom, a heat pump for toastie winters, this place is a rustic humble piece of kiwiana beachlife, a total rejuvination space and a surfers heaven.

Private and warm 1-bedroom flat with heat pump and all amenities: Enjoy a full kitchen incl cooktop, dishwasher & Nespresso machine, a separate bedroom, Netflix, desk with ergonomic office chair, and unlimited hot water. Secure off-street parking or lots of street parking right in front of the property. The flat has recently been renovated, is partially double glazed and fully insulated. This apartment is highly popular with business travelers, locum doctors, and other hospital staff.

We offer an entire self-contained unit with ample secure parking. The room is cozy and clean. You have your own private deck overlooking a rural setting. It's a 2 min drive to and from town (including a short stretch of gravel road), an hours drive to Lake Waikaremoana or 40 minutes to Mahia Beach for sun, surf and sand. Perfect spot if you're coming to town overnight for business or staying longer to enjoy the local environs, such as the mountain bike park, Morere Hot Springs.

Central, Spacious and Comfortable Retreat

Our spacious and comfortable retreat is located in central Gisborne, only a short stroll (200m) away from Ballance Street Village, where you will find great food, coffee and many other bare necessities (post, gift shop, florist, pharmacy, liquor store, etc). Your sunny room is self-contained and situated in a private area of the house with independent access and contactless entry system. Enjoy a luxury king bed, Wi-Fi, TV (freeview, Netflix), workspace and kitchenette.

Pōhatu Studio, A retreat by the River

Pōhatu, meaning stone in Maori, is a beautiful 1925 Arts & Crafts house built by one of regions wealthiest landowners. Lovingly restored in 2020, the guest room is self contained and absorbs the morning sun. Pohatu is located beside the Waimata River, on a 3000m2 section surrounded by mature trees and gardens which afford privacy for sitting outside with your favourite beverage. The property is a short walk to the beach, shops, bars and restaurants.

Sanctuary Lodge - Cabin 1

Get away from it all and re-energise yourselves. Mahia offers safe swimming, fishing and walks. The cabin is located in private bush setting, overlooking Mahia Peninsula and two bays. Cabin 1 can sleep a couple in a queen bed and one child under 7. It has recently been renovated, we are aiming for a comfortable, relaxing, and cosy feeling. We do offer reduced rates for more than one night's stay, please ask for prices.

Our 2 bedroom 1920s cottage has great rural views, is a short drive to the closest beach, family-friendly activities, Mangaone caves and 15 minutes from the beautiful Mahia Peninsula . You’ll love our place because of the cosiness, the comfy bed, the views, the 1920's charm and character and the 30 acres of pastures, woodland and stream to explore. The cottage is good for couples, and families (with kids).
