Gede Ruins is a 12th century Swahili settlement that was mysteriously abandoned around 600 years ago. You can hire a guide at the entrance to show you around. As well as being very interesting it is also surrounded by beautiful indigeous forest with lots of great bird life and very curious Syke’s Monkeys. Well worth visiting early in the morning or late afternoon when it is cooler.
