Featuring the long and close relationship of the region and the whole Crete with olives and olive oil, the Olive Museum in Kapsaliana village, is housed in the restored spaces of an old olive oil press mill, which operated in the Arkadi monastery and was built in 1763 by the abbot Filaretos. The Museum is located in the center of a residential complex, an exhibit itself, of high cultural value. The building complex remained in operation until the early 20th century and it consists of the cell of the monk, the production area and the monastery storage room and its historic olive grove.
