Grab a public bike (check how in my tips for travellers category) and ride through the cycleway straight to Leme (less than 10 min ride). Connected to Copacabana but not as crowded.

For me Leme is the best place to enjoy the beach in Rio if you don't want to go far. Relax in the sand and try our "mate limão" and "biscoito globo"
