Classic Greek food with a modern twist, in a restored old building with a giant brick chimney. The restaurant wine list features the best of South Australian wine and is a favorite of connoisseurs. Many locals frequent the restaurant for relaxing afternoons or pre-dinner drinks. The Greek is open from 10.30am weekdays and 11:30am on weekends.
This is Adelaide's most iconic Greek Restaurant. Set beneath a 40 meter tall heritage chimney this restaurant has a unique charm. The alfresco dinning underneath their permanent street umbrella's is amazing, in fact I much prefer eating outside to eating inside. Don't get me wrong, it has a great feel inside as well, it's just that Halifax Street is so picturesque it would be a shame to miss out on the enjoying the street vibe. In fact, when the sun is setting, you can see all the beautiful colours from the beach just by gazing down the street. And the food, well let's just say, if you like meat, you will love The Greek. Make sure you ask for their Turkish coffee. Your teaspoon will almost stand up it in. (The Chimney Stack is the last remnant of Adelaide's long closed disinfection plant, which was established in 1910).
