Why locals recommend it

It’s hidden in an alley and falling into it is like falling into a roaring `20s speakeasy. My first encounter at Bix was when I was just roaming around the neighborhood and bar hopping, and I came across it. In general, going through this part of the city—Jackson Square, North Beach—gives you a nostalgic vibe. I’ve come here and seen a bunch of acts I didn’t know, and have never been disappointed. Always start with the deviled eggs. Always. Don’t ask why.

The best Martini in town. Really good food and romantic too. A bit pricey but I feel worth it.

Supper club with a swanky 1930s ambiance, live jazz & a dining room serving American-French cuisine.

Great old historical building in the Barbary Coast neighorhood of SF. This is the oldest part of the City and used to be the buildling where the gold miners took their gold to be weighed. It was also a speakeasy at one time. Large piano in the center with live music.
