Koke'e state park is a must stop on the way up to the mountain. You can stop to eat in the restaurant or in the beautiful park with the FAKE state bird (the Canadian bird) the NENE goose. You can hit the museum to learn of the history. Before you hike, stop at KRCP behind the museum to get information on the invasive and endemic species. They also do guided tours. They are non-profit, so if you love their information please donate or tip your guides.

Couple hours drive from pickup location is a beautiful canyon and a couple safe places to sleep near by.

Unbelieveable location on a tropical Island. It's kind of the Pacific Northwest of the Island. Free range chickens, wild hogs, freshwater fishing, great coconut pie at the lodge. Unlimited hiking.
