Tips from locals
Large forest, less crowded than Vondelpark. Climbing activities and playgrounds for kids. Running track with fitness equipment.
The Amsterdamse Bos has a great diversity of animals, plants and trees. And nature reserves with different characters: a mosaic of wet, dry, forest, grassland, reed and open water.
My favorite place for a Sunday picnic. Spend the day under the trees, reading a book and swimming in the river..
a bit out of the way but if you fancy a nice bike ride in nature and you want to avoid the tourists in the Vondelpark, head to het Amsterdamse Bos. 30 min on the bike and then of course the time you spend there.
Beautiful forest Amsterdamse Bos, it is only about 35min cycle away. Great for walks, there is also a lake in the middle where you can swim, and a goat farm!
Beautiful park forest to walk the dog or other sportive activities like biking swimming and running. Also very nice for little kids lots of places to swim and play and a petting zoo.

“In 1996 the Vondelpark, as one of the first city parks, obtained the status of a national monument. This status is in line with the cultural-historical value that the park represents. This makes the Vondelpark one of the crown jewels of Amsterdam. An average of 10 million people visit the park every year. That is approximately 21 visitors per square meter. In comparison, Central Park in New York receives approximately 5 visitors per square meter every year!”
