Tips from locals
Rio’s Botanical Garden, really worth the visit. Commissioned by Brazil’s last emperor (yup…) due to his love of Brazilian flora. Very pleasant stroll, that can be coupled with one of Jardim Botanico’s (the neighbourhood) many restaurants.
A must-visit! Stroll through the gardens and get out on Rua Lopez Quintas on the other side. There you have Dona Coisa and a few other nice bountiques. The Jardim Botanico area is a hot spot for good restaurants and bars as well. Have lunch/ dinner at Puro or Jojo's and at night go up the road to…
If you fancy seeing some monkeys as well diverse flora, this is the place to go
Very nice botanical gardens with all kinds of tropical plants of all kinds. Ideal for an afternoon stroll.

Monument / Landmark
“The monument overlooking Rio de Janeiro have beyond breathtaking views. It is considered one of the seven new wonders of the world. There are three ways to get to it. You can take a train, van or hike. The train is the most famous and traditional way. The train will take you through Atlantic Forest almost to the top of the Corcovado Mountain. Make sure to have you camera ready and look to the right when the train is almost in the top. I suggest to pick a beautiful sunny day, so you don't miss any of the spectaculars views. ”
