Anchor Ln, Lewes BN8 5EA This is another local favourite that's within a 25 minute walk of Orchard Hut along the old Lewes to Uckfield railway line (which closed in the 60's). Its right on the River Ouse, and you can hire boats (£6 per person) and paddle up the river - dreamy! The food, once again, is good honest pub grub (not gastro). It is often extremely busy on a hot day with Brighton day trippers. This pub is often shut in winter and early spring so definitely call ahead to check if they are serving food.

The Anchor Inn is a really good village pub in Ringmer opposite The Green. The food is outstanding!

The Anchor – Barombe Mills The Anchor slips into being one of our favourite pubs despite serving fairly average food as it has a wonderful beer garden! It backs on to the River Ouse and hires row boats by the hour. This is one our children (and dog’s) favourite days out as on a warm day they can jump from the banks and enjoy wild swimming. Its also a great place for paddle boarding (further up the river – this is not allowed directly from The Anchor). No need to book and dogs welcome. www.anchorinnandboating.co.uk

Beautiful country pub, in the summer you can boat on the river. Does lovely pub grub but can get busy so be prepared to wait on sunny days.

Bar and restaurant, long walks along river. Good food, boating on river, secluded picnic areas. Dog Friendly. Wild swimming in the river, at your own risk! You will need shoes to get in and out banks are quite steep.
