(5 minutes away, on bus line) Carlyle has a well-trained staff and a dependable contemporary American menu. I've been eating there for 20 years and can't remember a time I've been disappointed by service or food. Nice alcohol menu as well. They'll try, and usually succeed, at getting you exactly what you want. Everything on the menu is well executed. Great place for long conversations. There is also a small friendly bar inside that that serves the same menu.

This restaurant has influences from southern cajun cooking including New Orleans, Louisiana. It's very good American food with a classy atmosphere, but is also kid-friendly. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the ingredients and skill-level of the cooking. A few favorites include the friend green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, and steak. You really can't go wrong here. The basket of bread they serve before your order arrives is very, very good.

This is the only restaurant that I go to for the food alone. That may sound weird, but I always look for something extra like views,etc. The food here is outstanding! They also have good service and it is located in a 2-block walkaround area with a movie theater 1 block away.
