Tips from locals
10 minutes away from Santa Pola going towards La Marina, there is a beautiful salt reserve, stunning in the evening.
To the west of Santa Pola, you will find the Salinas de Santa Pola (salt flats of Santa Pola) which are a designated nature reserve and a Special Protection Area for the conservation of wild birds. The salt flats occupy 2,496 hectares, the exploitation of which started at the end of the 14th century. Today the salt is extracted from the flats and commercialised.

Hiking and bird watching. The beach area with chiringuitos is lovely. Put your hiking shoes on and bring your binocular to spot group of flamingos feeding on the salt lake!
