"Located on the Ashley River, the park's significant features include, the remaining St. George's bell tower, the tabby Fort Dorchester, remains of shipping wharves that are visible during low tide and a complete archaeological town waiting to be discovered." source: southcarolinaparks.com/colonial-dorchester

If you're a history buff, this is right around the corner from us and is a great place to start! You can have a picnic on the river here too!

Make your way out to explore “South Carolina’s Abandoned Town.” Here you will find ruins from the 40 home village that once boasted a library, school, church and monthly fair. Now, the tabby fort, the old church tower and small buildings now on display. 300 State Park Rd. Colonial Dorchester is a state park and requests a donation of $2 a person.

10 minutes away! This state historic site is a great place for a lazy walk along the river and a picnic, along with a bit of local history. Very quiet and peaceful.
