Great variety of trails. Our favorite is the Shades of Death trail where you will see some waterfalls created by the dams.

Hike the Shades of Death Trail. Walk across Boulder Field. Witness and photograph the beautiful Hawk Falls. Throw a picnic! Play 18 holes of disc golf followed by a picnic in Sand Spring Day Use Area. View the Lehigh Gorge along Fireline Trail.

This large park in the western foothills of the Pocono Mountains is a blast from the past. Just look at Boulder Field, a National Natural Landmark that's been around for 20,000 years. Strap those shoelaces for a trek across 26-foot-long boulders. For more adventure, fish the trout streams, cross country ski, or hike 40+ miles of trails. If you want to gawk at crashing waterfalls, try the (unfortunately named) Shades of Death Trail. To cool down in the summer, Sand Spring Lake is your spot. This lush getaway is a two to three hour drive from Harrisburg, Philadelphia. It's only about an hour from Allentown, Scranton and Wilkes Barre. Once you get here, you have a host of camping options. The camping cottages, deluxe cottages, and tent and trailer campground all have vault or flush toilets nearby. Many campsites have electric hook-ups. Just remember to leave the booze at home—alcohol isn't allowed in the campground.
