The church, built around 1250, was a small, single-aisled stone church with a choir, dedicated to Saint Margaret. It is Margaretakirken that has given its name to Maridalen. The ruin was partly excavated and restored in 1934, and is beautifully located at Kirkeby at the northern end of Maridalsvannet. To get to the church, all you have to do is take the 51-bus north from Godalveien bus stop.
