Fitchie Creek is a beautiful forest preserve within walking/biking distance from the Burrow. It has two small parking lots at either of its two entrances for those who would rather drive. The closest entrance to the park from the Burrow is about a 2 minute drive or 11 minute walk (0.5 mile away). Just take South street up to Nesler road and it’s just across the street. The other entrance is the one off Russell road (listed on google search). The trail itself is a 3.4 mile loop with pretty fields and woods. It is also a horseback riding trail so you may encounter someone riding through. If you are looking for a beautiful sunset view the best place to be at sunset would (in our opinion) be the Russell road entrance. From the parking lot take the trail on the right which has a large open field for viewing the sunset without all the trees blocking your view. We have gone in every season including winter and it is a beautiful place all year round. Fun fact: we did our save the date photo shoot here.
