El Cocinero is a graceful restaurant in a former El Vedado oil factory that still has its impressive original brick smokestack. Enjoy views to the Almendares River from the terrace, and try the frituras de malanga—they’re delicious! At sunset, the view of El Cocinero gives the illusion that the smokestack has puffed back to life.

The open space at El Cocinero This is one of the big “ups” of the last months in Havana. El Cocinero is a cool and trendy bar located in Vedado in the building close to the iron bridge with the big chimney. The space is totally open, which may present a problem during the rainy season, but the owners are planning to open another dining space in a closed area on the premises. One can have a full meal at El Cocinero, but the place is better for tapas and drinks. Don’t miss it!

Situated in the same abandoned factory as the outrageously fun club/bar/concert venue/art gallery La Fabrica in the trendy Vedado neighborhood, El Cocinero would fit like an Etsy-sequined glove in any hip 'hood in the States (here’s looking at you, Williamsburg). Look for the 50ft brick smokestack atop the rooftop dining room. Follow it to rum and meat. Rejoice.

An amazing location with great food and service, it has two different restaurants, indoors and an amazing outdoor terrace. Michelle Obama spoke greatly about it, a few other celebrities agree.

Great vibe, unique design and great food. Only 10 min walk (5 blocks) from our Casa de Vera. Great classic and frozen daiquiris. Frequent place for some of the best Cuban artists.
