A wonderful place see wildlife, plenty of walking trails, calm water for swimming and kayaking. In the summer weekly free concerts at the amphitheater.

If you like to walk and be outside, then walking down (or driving to the parking spaces just east of the bridge you crossed to come into town) to Sternwheeler Park and into the wetlands is peaceful. If you go under the bridge to the boat launch (north of the East Fork of the Lewis River) you can see historical signs - like Timmen's Landing that explains that this region used to be called "Podunk" (I kid you not) and how it got the name of La Center.
