Family-run authentic restaurant on Srđ hill above Dubrovnik, in the area called Bosanka. The place is surrounded by pine trees and offers stunning views down on Dubrovnik. The food is homemade and fresh and prepared in a traditional way (big emphasis is on meat). Excellent and knowledgeable staff. You can reach it by cable car and then walk some 20 minutes but getting there with a taxi is an experience in itself so I would definitely recommend that!

Nestled in a patch of forest on the Srđ hill plateau, this rustic tavern offers a refreshing change from the old town’s neatly set terraces and polished stone piazzas. The dishes here are simple and mainly grilled, but if you call in advance, you can pre-order the traditional peka – lamb, veal or octopus prepared under a domed baking lid.

Typical Croatian restaurant with local food (grilled meat, fish and vegetables). During summer season and weekends live unplugged music, 3 very talented middle-aged guys performing on accordion, guitar and double bass, performing most popular local (200km radius) songs. Very good for large groups or big families. You have to take a car/taxi to get there

While on the top end of the Dubrovnik cable car take the 15 min walk down to this excellent local restaurant. That walk is worth it for the views, and the food is well worth going out of your way for. Guests recommended the "Peka" local dish specialty lamb and veal under the bell and book in advance, as the dish is slow-cooked for three hours!

Got Kids? Bosanka gets our vote for the best, and very authentic Croatian restaurant, for families with children as its away from the city in a little village and they have a nice play area on the side of the restaurant. They actually serve really delicious (and very filling) BBQ charcoal grilled meats. Bosanka is a little village up behind Srd, the hill above Dubrovnik Easy to get to by cab - or of its lunch, maybe even walk?
