Tips from locals
Up for a little drive outside the city? About 45 minutes away, this is one of my favorite waterfalls and hiking spots in the area. Consider taking the scenic route along 27 if you're coming from Signal Mountain (it's all scenic around here, actually..)
Foster Falls is a not for the faint at heart, although there are a few shorter hikes in the area that you can plan for those who may not be up for the entire trail.
It's about 1/2 hour drive, but well worth it if you have time! Gorgeous falls and beautiful scenery down river too. Wear good shoes for the climb down the rocks though!
Amazing waterfalls and rock climbing areas are all part of the a great circular trail - Foster Falls is fun for the whole family. Views from above the gorge are priceless - the trails through the valley floor along the river are serene. Pet friendly. Part of the expansive South Cumberland State Park.
