Ragusa Ibla - A wonderful little town to go for a walk full of beautiful views, charm streets and barroc buildings. I suggest to go at evening when the center is more animated.

The monumental church of San Giorgio is characterized by the fascinating tower façade witch is made even more magnificent by a long staircase and by its oblique position in relation to the surrounding square. It was designed by the architect Rosario Gagliardi and the first stone of this building was placed in 1739. The interior, rich in white stone engravings, was completed around 1785 whereas the cupola , in neoclassic style, was added in 1820. There are three valuable pictures created by Vito D’Anna representing: St Nicholas, The Immaculate Conception and the Guardian Angel. There is also a massive organ from the Serassi factory (1887). In the sacresty, there is still an altar with the statues of St George, St Mercurio, St Ippolito, sculpted in 1575 by Antonio Gagini. ------------------------------------ La chiesa di San Giorgio è caratterizzata dalla scenografica facciata a torre che viene resa ancora più maestosa da una lunga scalinata e dalla posizione obliqua rispetto alla piazza sottostante. Fu progettata dall’ architetto Rosario Gagliardi e la prima pietra fu posta nel 1739. L’interno, ricco d’ intagli in pietra bianca ,fu completato attorno al 1785 mentre la cupola in stile neoclassico venne aggiunta nel 1820. Contiene tre pregevoli quadri di Vito D’Anna raffiguranti :S. Nicola, l’Immacolata e l’Angelo Custode e un monumentale organo della ditta Serassi (1887). Nella sacrestia si conserva una tribuna d’ altare con le statue di S. Giorgio, S. Mercurio, e S.
