Karaka studio is on the very edge of the Waimea Inlet with water twenty metres from your front door. Lie in bed and watch the tide come in. We are a private estuary island (Manuka Island) but we have drive on access at all times, 25 minutes to Nelson and Motueka. Rabbit Island beach(4km) and Taste Nelson Cycle Trail is a km from our gate. We are central to vineyards, cafes, 3/4 hour to Abel Tasman National park. We have amazing sea, rural , and mountain views. Total privacy assured.

Romantic Getaway - The Caboose

Romantic Getaway. The Caboose is a handcrafted replica of a train carriage, with a small private garden. Set on a half acre property next to our historic farmhouse, centrally located at the outskirts of Motupipi, at the eastern side of Golden Bay, only 5 minutes drive from the beach and 5 minutes from Takaka township. The outdoor shower, bath and toilet are all in the private garden that can be accessed with stairs from the side of the balcony of The Caboose. Full cell phone coverage.

Situated outside of the delightful township of Motueka we have built this tiny retreat and are super excited to be able to offer this unique accommodation experience to others. Large bi-folding doors open onto a deck where you can totally relax, enjoy a cold beer, sink into a quirky hot tub and soak up the sea views. Its in a great location and a great base to explore Golden Bay from. Enjoy getting back to the basics, dozing in a hammock, a friendly weka or two and a spectacular night sky.
