Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Tarrafal

The house is just like in the photographs, a wooden construction in which nothing has been left to chance and which is filled with small details and revealing details of the love and affection with which it was built and appreciated. Like any wooden house, it is already showing small points in need of maintenance, but nothing serious. The view from the house on the outer porch is stunning and it's precisely what we loved the most. To stay outside at night, observing the immensity of the starry sky and in silence, only with the sound of the sea, was equally pleasant. The perfect home to welcome us with our family. We leave with great desire to return for more days. Small appliances missing can improve the experience (kettle or coffee maker). On the contiguous terrain of the house a new dwelling is being built, which removes privacy from the porch. Workers are respectful and do not start making noise too early.

This is where you want to be! Pool large enough for short laps. The house is huge! Lucas' relatives are across the driveway and very helpful with issues. Expect some family activity, but other times completely quiet, and we had the pool to ourselves whenever we used it. Rental car needed.

Hanspeter was a accommodating host and we are grateful for his energetic organizational support ahead of our trip. The bungalows are very nicely decorated and extremely clean. They are located on the outskirts of the village, it is only a few minutes walk to the beach and there is a little more peace in the evening than in the village center. If you are looking for relaxation and tranquility paired with warm climate, Maio and Hanspeter will not be disappointed!

The house is very pretty, a bit off the beaten track when it comes to shopping and restaurants. But Jean-Christophe is very accommodating and helps with shopping on the first day. Beds are a little worn out.

We enjoyed the quiet stay at Dinohelders place in the hills of Santiago. The house has a very tasty interior design and we felt at home from the beginning. The garden is beautiful with all the plants and the pergola is beautiful. People living around the area are super helpful and friendly. You'll see all kinds of farm animals around the property. There are nice hiking opportunities available right from the house. Thanks again for letting us stay at this beautiful place.

Very nice accommodation, well located and very clean on the beautiful island of Maio. We arrived at 9am and were able to directly access the accommodation with transportation included from the port. The infinity pool is very well maintained and allows you to perfectly contemplate the sunset. Access to a private beach is also present and allows extreme tranquility.

We had a lovely stay at Sofia's. The house is in a very nice location, quiet in a condominium with pool. Sofia and her father gave us a very good welcome, and were always there to help us. A plus: the hearty breakfasts served on the terrace by Vany and her big smile.

Spacious, comfortable, very friendly host, willingly to go extra miles to make sure the guests feel comfortable. Amenities all within reach.

Patricia and her husband offer a magnificent house with the most beautiful view! The apartment offered everything we needed - a pool, quiet rooms, a well equipped kitchen and an outdoor BBQ and all support we could think of of Patricia and her staff. All in all: we had a wonderful stay in Maio, it is really an island to calm down, enjoy nature, sun and the sea. Thanks a lot!

A wonderful house, perfectly clean, nicely decorated and very well equipped, in a dreamy landscape (the terrace overlooks the ocean: during our 7-day stay we saw dolphins and a whale directly from the terrace). The very kind and efficient Ivania and Daniel were always there to help with everything we needed (meals, birthday cake, island tour, tips, stories about Maio and its locals). Patricia is always attentive and has helped us immensely, for example with transportation to and from Praia: huge thank you, Patricia, for the perfect hospitality! We will go back because the experience in Maio was fabulous!

Great space

The unit is just as shown in the pictures. Very nice and clean place. New Development. Building seems to be very safe. A key is needed for the main door to access inside in the building. Safety and security was big for me and this place did feel secure. The cleaning lady was amazing and helpful. Rooftop is shared so laundry is left to dry up there but I never had any issues with my neighbors. Only downsides were the water did run out and we did not have any running water for a few hours. The master bedroom door did lock on it’s own and would not open, there was an issue with the handle it came loose and was not operating properly. Besides those two hiccups I enjoyed my time there. I stayed for about 15 days and felt at home.

Kindly Bernard agreed to pick us up for free from our previous accommodation. He accommodated us in a larger, very nice house. Valerie and Bernard do everything to make our stay enjoyable: bike loan, informed advice, we really enjoyed the visit to her friend Raphaël Colicci who founded the Maioasis agroforestry farm:an extraordinary project to develop autonomous farms for social and solidarity purposes on the island of Maio.

We loved our stay and recommend it for anyone. Eunice is very friendly and communicative. We hope to come back some time.

Great accommodation and warm welcome by Fabrice and Magali, what more could you ask for? The sea view is fabulous, and at night the sound of the waves cradles your sleep. The shower is probably one of the best on the island (pressure and hot water). The host location, Ribeira da Prata, is a very nice little village (with a beautiful beach) that we preferred to its more anonymous neighbor Tarrafal. To conclude, a property not to be missed!!!

Very nicely furnished apartment with a very large terrace with beautiful views of the sea. The contact with Andreas was very pleasant and we were able to get many recommendations. Definitely highly recommended. Gladly again!!

The stay at Iolanda and Johannes' was very nice. The accommodation is simple (as described) and clean. Very friendly hosts who take good care and support, but also give the necessary space. Good starting point for beautiful hikes. The food was excellent. Thank you! Viola + Samuel

This is an amazing place! Sleeping in an authentic village in the middle of the mountains with delicious food. We have been there with our three children (9,12 and 15). The cottage is clean and 3 bedrooms and terrace with great views. We took beautiful walks there and had a delicious dinner at johannes and lolanda's restaurant. Super nice couple, who are always there for all your questions. We miss the good food

Very nice place, we felt very welcome. Miguel is there anytime for taking care, answering questions and doing it's best to create us a nice stay. Thank you a lot! The Appartement is very good located without beeing in the "partyzone", beach and center are close, bakery not even 5min. by foot.

Everything was perfect. We had a lovely time.

The stay was perfect. We enjoyed breakfast every morning. The accommodation is very large, with sea views and sunsets. The natural pools are a 30-minute walk away, and the pretty black sand beach is 10min away. The village is very cute and the locals very welcoming. Zeza responds to messages very quickly, and made our stay a lot easier by giving us information about the activities and she even booked us a day with a guide to hike in Serra Malagueta. Thanks again!
